HELP - Disk dying

My disk is dying and I have another one I could copy it to.
However, MAXBLAST only works if one or more disks are Maxtor.
IBM Disk Maintenance is no longer being supplied for downloading because - "It's no longer needed with Win XP"!
My old version doesn't support NTFS, apparently.

Well, I NEED something to Ghost my drive. No, I don't have Ghost either.
I need something cheap (read FREE), and easy to download.
Anyone out there know of a good free disk copy program I can get quickly? I'm on an old Win'98 disk that is slow and not fully protected, so I need something quick.

Thanks.

With HDCopy you can make an identical copy of a hard drive onto another hard drive. If you buy a new hard drive and don't wish to change your Windows configuration in any way, you can use HDCopy to copy your old hard drive completely to the new one (hidden files as well).

PCI Clone

http://www.freewebs.com/fatbill/system.html is a nice list of programs (which may be where the link above ends up at).

pci_cloneXX starts out very fast and slows it's speed as it encounters errors. If you old drive is acting up you may notice that it takes a while.
This sounds like the best one to try. downloaded it -I'll try it tomorrow.

Thanks - All my links are on the bad drive, so I'm using an old 5400rpm Win'98!

I wasn't very clear but the bad drive had 3 or 4 partitions with W2K Server (2ea), W2KPro (2ea), and XP-Pro, so you can see why I want to save it.

fgvarb, I'd be careful with that second link to freewareweb. I tried download one copy program from there, 1st one on 2nd page, XPsetup or something like that, and got 2 suspicious spyware messages!!
And the program didn't load, probably a good thing.

It's UP!

I used PCI Clone and copied a 40GB Fujitsu to a 60GB IBM in ~45 minutes, and it seems to be working fine so far!!! No formatting, partitioning, or anything else. Of course, I need to go to partition the empty space now and add it to my XP part.

But, IT'S WORKING! YEA!
Thanks, guys!

I'm glad you are up and running!

I should have taken a closer look at the second link I, searched it out on the net.

I forget I have so much Armour on this thing and other people don't always have it.

I will be more careful in the future!

Sorry...My bad!

I'm sure you wouldn't give us a nefarious site on purpose.
Actually, I have a lot of armour too. That's why I got those pop-ups telling me something was possible wrong with the link. Some sites patrol their links closely and some don't.

And, that's why I spent several hours updating Windows and loading Spybot, Ad-Aware, Norton updates, etc, before I even tried to look up anything on the web with that other old Win'98 disk. But now I have a solid, reliable backup disk.

And my newly cloned IBM is purring smoothly. Thought I might have a problem with "Activation", but it seems to have done that with no problem.
