HELP!!!! Bartholin Cyst

Have any of you girls (or guys, have your wives/gfs) experienced a Bartholin cyst?

The Bartholin glands secrete natural lubrication at the entrance to the vagina. Sometimes, they get blocked for some reason. This has happened to me on occassion... but it seems to be happening more often now.

It is damn sore when it happens.... the inner labia lip gets swollen on which ever side the cyst is on... it looks for all the world like a large spot. I have bathed it.... and my hubby has squeezed it.... but the pain is incredible when he does this! Sex is obviously out of the question while I have one.

Has anyone else experienced these awful things.. and if so have you any advice on how to get rid of it???

Some good basic info.

My advice would be see your Doctor. I had a small operation that solved the problem. Not very pleasant but did the trick.

I had one many years ago, a course of antibiotics cleared it right up. The doctor did say if it recurred I might need a small operation to remove it, but that's the only time it has ever happened

Sao, sorry you're having the problem. Yes, they are very painful. I was on antibiotics the first few times - then had day surgery to lance it. It returned and they considered removing the gland but there were other considerations. It will still flare up from time to time but not nearly as painful now.

Talk with your doctor - the anitibiotics help greatly. Sometimes sitz baths help to sooth you...... hope you feel better soon sweetie.

I have these often and have found that sterilizing a safety pin (tip is thinner than a needle) and piercing it seems to be less painful than trying to squeeze it.

Thanks Hon... I did go to my Doctor the first time I got one a few years ago. She squeezed it.... I almost screamed with the pain!! It seemed to do the trick. But recently I have another one.. that just keeps on recurring.

I am going to have a sitz bath later..... then see can hubby try squeezing it again. Its just so damn painful to touch.. very tender. I just hate the thought of going to the doctor again.... *shudders*...... she isnt the most gentle!!!!
