HELP - add a link in my profile

Hi guys
Could someone please give me some advice as to how I add a link to a different thread in my profile. I have tried copy & paste of the http but all the happens is that is gets displayed as text in my profile and not as a hyperlink......hope someone can help me

Go to user cp.

Select edit profile.

Scroll down to signature.

Type [ url= but don't put a space between the [ and the url

Copy or type the link.

Type ].

Type the text that you would like to appear in the signature line, something that describes the link or whatever you think is appropriate.

Type / url ] again don't include any spaces.

edited to add: Guess that when I am offering advice about signature lines that I should turn mine on first. I didn't see that you had already figured it out until I had already posted.
