I think pp has envy for America. We are the only former colony of Britain that turned out to be something.

At the end of ww2 both of the worlds superpowers, America and Russia were pleased that Britain and the other european nations were forced to pull out of our former colonies. We were totally unable to continue as a controlling power as we were bankrupted from standing up to Germany and Japan alone for two and a half years . At anytime during this period we could have called a ceasefire and arranged terms, at least with Germany. We refused to do so because we believed that the Nazi regime was an evil that should be destroyed no matter what the cost. I've seen many posts by Americans pointing their hypocritical fingers and stating that Britain appeased the Nazis unfortunately they fail to add that our appeasement ended in 1939 when we declared war on Germany because they invaded Poland, America continued to appease Germany until after Pearl Harbour when they were dragged kicking and screaming into the conflict by a declaration of war by Germany on the USA.

I think pp has envy for America. We are the only former colony of Britain that turned out to be something.

I think Canada, Australia, New Zealand would probably disagree.
