I’m quite a bad backseat driver - I might just meet you there, x

Best thing about driving yourself, is that you can leave when you want...

I'm going to say...

... that this place isn't finished just yet. it's my go to place to smile? no. (it's slowing down though)

Indeed - no one to judge my music choices...

I found this by accident when scrolling through Spotify for five-fucking-thirty-gym-club, makes me cycle faster :D

so it started with ***

I've never heard of the guy, but I know you have a penchant for ventriloquists

it moves onto ***
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p01819yv/buried-treasure-the-walls-of-jericho

the pronunciation of turquoise gives rise to arguments in my house!

and ends with ***

I give you the alpine horn!

(think this is strange? this is the edited version to not scare the kids away!!)

Not sure I’ve ever declared “a penchant for ventriloquists” :). But he’s hilarious and there are still tickets available, very, very tempted...

Not watched the Beeb thing - surely there is only one way to pronounce turquoise...

psst - I demand the unedited version, I don’t give a fuck if it scares others away - that sort of mood...

ps - OP is alive and well, forgot to say - not sure if he’s returning to reclaim his thread though, not now we’ve wrecked the joint...

Oi! OP, if you want the thread back, I’ll clear up the empties, bit of air freshener and some scatter cushions and it’ll be fine...

A personal thread with 25 pages is kudos!

But I'm genuinely sorry if any offence given, but given OP posts I think he'll survive.

I forgot the banjo, the rest stays in my head!

One of the reasons I don't exchange my SO for a younger model! She gets all my cultural references... Can you imagine having to explain Bernie Clifton or Margarita Pragitan (?) ( can't be arsed googling the correct spelling)

I hope there are better reasons...

Anywhos, whatcha on about?, I’m a spring chicken, :D

We'll. Be able to vote izzard soon. Well Londoners might. Or not.

I’d take Izzard over Corbyn anyday... corbs terrifies me slightly... I miss my Labour Party (not cunty-Blair days)... Jess Philips for PM I say... or Oona King, I’d like her to have a comeback after cunty-Galloway ousted her with shitty dirty tactics... Oona or Jess or Eddie could prove a real challenge to May, I don’t think Corbs has it in him...

I would love Eddie as leader... can you imagine what some of the more conservative nations would make of Eddie with his gorgeous lipstick? Eddie rocks, I’m only a pretend Londoner, I won’t get to vote though...

There seems to be a universal law though. People want to be rich. Even if they are thick as pig shit. Same happens in US. So the policies of the left (progressive taxing, worth over profit, fair pay and terms for employment etc) don't wash with the electorate. Almost all of Corbyn's ideas taken in isolation I agree with. But (unfortunately) the guys not able to lead the labour party so how could he lead the country.
As to the other side, I'm a fan of Mrs T. I'm a product of her vision of the individual! Yet WTF for so many years now they've done nothing (literally) but fuck things up yet the electorate love them... And don't get me started on "Man Of The People" Sir Nigel Garage

I’m not sure it’s true that people want to be rich, few politicians actually give the electorate a choice. Even Corbs... their policies are all around taxing the wealthy more- the problem there is that they are the people that want to be rich and also that they already pay a disproportionate amount of tax. That might not be a popular thing to say, the top 1% of earners contribute to 27% of all income tax collected (note - obviously not the only source of revenue).

https://fullfact.org/economy/what-do-wealthiest-pay-tax/

It’s easy and popular to say tax the buggers more... but how vulnerable does that make us as a society? A downturn disproportionately impacting the top 1% suddenly affects the governments ability to support the poorest... the truth is we probably all ought to pay more but no party seems to give us that option. I genuinely think if a party asked us if we’d pay more to provide better care for the elderly and improved safeguarding for vulnerable children, most of us would agree it was fair...

I’m not a fan of Mrs T - but I saw Thatcher the musical a few years back (side note, Carol Thatcher was sat some rows behind me), I found it profoundly moving... I didn’t expect to cry but there you have it, at the end, the shell of the woman missing Dennis made me cry. I also learnt the ‘thatcher, thatcher, milk snatcher’ smear was unfair. She was education secretary at the time and had argued against it - it was the treasury that imposed it against her wishes.

Did you see the Mark Thomas thing to define the word ‘Farage’?

Mark Thomas is s legend! And yes I have the sticker on my bin. Marks work is completely on the money.

And I'd not argue much against what you say with personal tax. My beef is with general tax. I've not used Amazon for years because its a virus. It takes out and doesn't contribute. When government is deliberately setting the rules for this to happen (and people keep voting for those policies) then we get the government we deserve.

Politics and religion. Makes no one happy... BOOBIES!

I don’t know about that, there’s not much I like more than getting slightly squiffy on a lazy weekend with top notch company and setting the world of politics and religion to rights... but I also have boobies... best of both worlds...

psst - don’t ‘let me’ win, I’ve known men who do let me win the argument too easily, maybe in the hope of boobies - I find it a very unattractive quality...
