careful your inbox doesn't get filled with men in tights pics:rolleyes::D

I’m a regular at the ballet AP. Just sayin’

I was tempted to start a ballet boys thread after the Women in Yoga Pants thread but feared it would just be me posting.

Who will dance the lead in 'the sugarplum fairy?'

Do it... I know nothing about ballet but I can appreciate a dancer’s body... being a sophisticated culture vulture... and not at all just a plain old perv....

When you say 'a dancer' I assume you're not including the likes of Ed Balls off Strictly...?

And actually, strangely enough, both of those are now on my to buy list...

While SL and Allia are away, anyone else fancy posting a random favourite YouTube/art newspaper book quote?

You know, nice and high brow?

What, like a quote in the Daily Fail by Clarkson? Or a Page 3 Retrospective of Sam Fox and Linda Lusardi

I have a couple of those on my bathroom floor. I keep missing the waste basket when I am sitting down

Oh they’re subscribing to the idea of Doctor as “ God “ and making patients pay through the nose for the privilege

It’s a bit of a frustrating article to read though without sources ( the clicky links are not loading for me ). It would have been helpful if they’d quoted some legislation within the article at the point below so I could get a sense of how it’s worded.

In the majority of U.S. states, it’s legal for medical providers, typically medical students, to go into an operating room and, without a patient’s consent, push two fingers into an anesthetized patient’s vagina and perform a pelvic exam.

I wonder if this god given right to perform intrusive medical examinations extends to children? There is an American Gynaecologist on Lit somewhere its a shame I can’t remember his name as it would have been useful to seek his opinion.

I hadn’t even considered kids... I hope this is ‘only’ non consenting adults

Snopes fact checked it and worryingly also cites a UK med school but I chanced across this on Twitter and UK docs were saying it definitely doesn’t happen in the UK anymore... I can’t read the link for the UK reference without a BMJ login...

I would like to know how the legislation is worded though... and what the hospitals own Behavioural standards say. How would you distinguish between the junior Dr doing this as part of training and a junior Dr doing this with “ intent” to commit an offence? Do they need to be supervised by a qualified Dr or otherwise chaperoned? Once a Dr is qualified does there cease to be a defence if they are performing intrusive medical examinations without medical necessity and without seeking the consent of the patient?

So many questions.

Morning peeps,

Would a woman know it happened?
I know that when my wife, during pregnancy was examined lube was used, I'm sure once the woman woke up some lube would still be there, or they would be sore if it wasn't used?

Maybe it would be a sense of something had happened but not being sure what!

I just hope here in GB this practice ( if it does happen) it is closely monitored.

At what point when they're drafting consent forms/teaching syllabus did someone not stop and think that this might just be a bit suspect.

I don’t think you’d know unless it was particularly rough.... the vagina is designed to accommodate penises on the way in and babies on the way out. I can’t see there would be much of a defence in the UK in circumstances where there was no medical requirement ( eg treatment) or consent ( teaching purposes) - but we have a friendly Litster who can be more specific about training practices no doubt.
