Okay, so yeah, I'm an idiot. I've been reading stories on Literotica for a number of years and in all the time I've been reading this site I had no clue that this place also offered discussion boards and pic posting forums and all this other stuff; that is, until a reader recently e-mailed me to let me know of the existence of this message board.
Oh well, better late than never...
I finally broke down and began submitting stories only a few months ago. A friend of mine beat me up so often about it that I finally gave in to her and submitted something, just to shut her up. That initial "something" was my "Angelina" series. Posting that story here constituted the first time I ever documented that part of my life in story form. After I'd posted that series my same friend wouldn't let me off the hook until I also posted the natural follow ups to "Angelina," which were "Sisters" and "Stacey."
At least she's finally let up on me!
Anyway, here are a few observations from this first post noob...
-There are some incredibly good writers here. There are stories here that I'd gladly offer up to anybody as proof that erotica can in fact still involve excellent story telling and superb craftsmanship.
-Unfortunately there are far too many absolutely horrible writers here too. I'm always a bit surprised at how lazy some fairly prolific writers here are in terms of being unwilling to brush up on even the most rudimentary grammar and spelling.
-People sure get brave with their "anonymous" public comments. Cracks me up, the way so many people are so afraid to sign their comments and thereby expose themselves. Hell, some of the best conversations I've had here came about as a result of people who offered comments or feedback which included a name and a return address.
-Along those same lines there sure are a lot of petty and vindictive people who read Lit. People give "0" scores at the drop of a hat, the moment they get upset about...anything. Sure are a lot of masochists here, judging by the sheer volume of people who regularly post negative comments about stories which they knew going in would contain offensive (to them) content. For example why on earth do people who hate "loving wives" stories continue to read them and get upset by them? If you know you disapprove of wives who fuck other men then what are you doing reading those stories?? Why do that to yourself? A sane person would simply scroll right on past that genre of stories...or so I'd think anyway.
-It hasn't happened yet but I vow to one day submit a "typo free" story!
-Probably the most hilarious aspect of writing stories here has proven to be the wildly divergent comments and suggestions. I'm always amazed and amused by the way one story could prompt one group of people to write me to say, "Please, gangbang her! Make her do the whole football team!" while another equally vociferous group will write to say, "Please, don't turn her into a gangbang slut. Keep this thing a good story!"
Similarly one group will write to say, "Too much narrative! More action!" while the other will say, "Stretch this thing out more. More character development, less sex, please!"
I do have one question. There's an author here called angiquesophie, who's an excellent writer. Besides her writing abilities she also amazes me with the way her stories always seem to receive an unusual amount of feedback. I haven't encountered more of a "lightning rod" author here; ie, someone for whom people seem to lie in wait so that her next offering can instantly become its own mini discussion forum. This woman seems to inspire an incredible degree of anger in many people; anger that's usually directed personally at her, rather than at the characters in her stories.
Can somebody clue me in as to her story? How'd she come to be so controversial here?
Also, any suggestions as to other authors here who inspire the kind of visceral reactions she inspires? Are there other authors here who are equally skilled, infamous and controversial?
