Just started trying to rain here. I thik it's already given up the attempt as I type.

But the wind's gone and it's more the right temperature for this time of year.

This rain of which you and the stranger from the far north spoke did not happen! No water fell from the sky! As we thought, it was a story, a myth. You have tried to trick us. Begone! We will not be fooled into staring up at dark clouds waiting for such water again!

Well, it did down here farther south. Not much, I must admit, but enough to darken the streets and the driveway. Not, however, enough to forgo watering the orchids. I love orchids. Got some of these due to bloom in a few weeks.

Here in north Florida, it's been nice all weekend. It's now kind of iffy, in that we've had some sprinkles and it's overcast, but it's less than 80. We're running God's air conditioning, and the cats love it.

The cat's sprawled out and looking at me as if to say, "Can't move...go on without me...."

But I've certainly seen my cats doing that when it gets hot. The heat just flattens them out.

In the south, we don't get colorful falls--not as they know them in the north. For some reason, any tree in the south that does do something colorful is derided as a "trash tree." I'm thinking chinaberry and golden raintree. I've got several in my neighborhood. Right now they're dropping their little yellow blossoms everywhere. I've also got them coming up like weeds in the back yard. My husband hates them.

Speaking of weeds, the front of the house looks awful. Nobody ever goes after the weeds except me, and I haven't been able to do anything about them since I broke my leg. I need to get some of that herbicide that comes in a big jug with a pump, and go after them. And after they're dead, put down fresh mulch.

This water was merely the mist from the sea as sometimes drifts over our dry lands, so say the elders.

Our sidewalk was wet this morning, but it must have been the sprinklers. I don't believe in that "Rain" myth he keeps talking about either. It must one of those LA fantasies like traffic or smog.

In the right conditions, with enough dust in the air, mud will fall from the sky. I did not believe until this mud fell upon me. Now, I am a believer.

But this heat you all speak of, what is this? To be able to go outside wearing shorts? This must be a myth. Next you will be tell me that the sky is blue, instead of gray.
