The guards all hustled to their posts. The new recruit placed in the least critical spot also surrounded by trusted senior members of the guard. They knew the drill watch the new guy. Report anything suspicious about his behavior.

The crew was moving like a hive of bees to get the ship prepped to launch and get all supplies on board and finish up any maintenance that was going on when the call went out. The guards all placed in designated areas around the ship in case of a boarding or a need to respond to in crew disputes stood there posts. Some guards in a more relaxed manor as this was normal and not their first flight. Others like Aylward stood there post more rigidly, taking the job very seriously maybe even too much so. However he never gets in the way of the busy crew members. Staying in his assigned location watching them run back and forth.

Well the thirty minutes is over so guess the Captain or someone wanted us here early. Wonder just how early. Did they cut the time allowed by half?

He walks back and forth slowly from the edge of his area to the next able to see the next guards area from the edge of his. He nods to them then turns and walks to the other side just to repeat. No need for banter having the feeling this will be a long flight or maybe a long fight.

With everyone on board Kayli quickly had them take off for the call for aid.She was clearly in contact with someone in their flight in some areas seeming to take over piloting herself to get them through certain areas too dangerous to rely on sensor and pilot reaction time differences. Her mental powers could reach beyond the sensors adding to the sensors and her own reaction time due to her mental distance sensing.

Arriving hours before a standard ship would have a single burst from a weapon right between the two fighting factions one of the crew began to speak as if the captain of the ship. Not a known being to either side. Kayli was assisiting the his words as he stood there masking her from their vision almost a symbiotic connection for this introduction.

Soon the empire was backing off from the planet but not the area just in case battle needed to continue but the other ships attempted to attack Kayli's ship as she gave the command to open fire but only to cripple the ships. She would bring back one side or the other to the Dark Phoenix and the the spire for the sacrifices.
