I see the incorrect use of "Hear, hear!" used a lot here. Are they merely done as typos, or cos the correct derivation wasn't known?

My kids and their friends were getting a lift in my car and discussing some music. Apparently "bare sick" (which I heard as "bear sick") means "jolly good".
