I'm rather surprised that one of these hasn't been started --or maybe it has and has been lost: A collection of "news story" ledes that promise a story that could never live up to the headine; or if it could, you probably don't want to know the details. The New Yorker used to do a number of these. The CJR devotes the penultimate page of each issue to such "stoppers."
