Racists accidentally hire black DJ for Xmas party..then storm out

By Daniel Thomas And Greig Box

FURIOUS BNP racists walked out of their own Christmas party - because the DJ was black.

A member of the far right group blundered by hiring the entertainer over the phone without meeting him first.

Party-going bigots were stunned when he turned out to be black. BNP organiser Bob Garner admitted yesterday: "Everyone was _ a bit alarmed when he turned up with his lights and console. A lot of people weren't happy. I wasn't, really. One or two walked out."

None of the BNP members told the DJ who his audience was - and kept their poisonous beliefs quiet during speeches.

Garner said: "We had to be careful what we said. What are you supposed to do? Tell him to clear off. It was very, very embarrassing." Among the guests at the £12 a head function were BNP London mayoral candidate Julian Leppert and Euro spokesman Chris Roberts.

BNP spokesman Phill Edwards said upset members chose to leave the party in central London instead of insulting the DJ. He sneered: "So what's the problem?"

Labour MP Martin Salter said: "Clearly the Christmas message of goodwill was missing."

I really don't know. Whenever I ask for an explaination all I get is, "you just do."

solomon burke, who was, is, a great r&b singer tells a story about being hired to play at a KKK meeting in the 50s or early 60s. it was before television was popular, and he had just had a hit on the radio. same deal, the person hiring him did not realize his color. and he did not realize it was a klan gathering until the attendees started arriving.

i can't imagine which party was more startled.

i think vocal stereotyping, by color, is more of an american thing.

Sounding white has to do with accent and speach pattern, just like when we hear someone from Scottland we get a mental picture. IN the late 60's or early 70's there was a show on TV called the Buggaloos. One of the kids was black with a cockney accent. It use to crack me up. It just didnt seem to fit.

People tell me I sound white as well. Only because I choose to speak properly.

I'm surprised this happened in the UK. I almost thought it was here until I saw the "£" sign for Pound.

we also have the LB sign for pound although thanks to the frogs and krauts, aided by the dago's, ities and belgians that symbol of defiance against nazi germany is now almost illegal. Ah what sweet joy to have joined our mainland european cousins!

As sad as this is, it's so fuckin' true.
I don't try to sound 'classy'-so why do fools try to sound 'hood' around me?

What are 'ities'? And could you character map that lb sign so I can see what the fuss was about?

I sound taller over the phone myself. With a clear signal I can sound at least a foot taller.
