Is this feature working?

I have submitted several requests, checked the box to copy me on the email, but I don't get anything in my email (or spam). Also haven't heard from anyone. I am using a yahoo email address.

I tried changing to another yahoo email address, and it seemed to work ok as I got the verification email from Literotica to my original yahoo email address.

Any suggestions.

No, it doesn't work. A lot of functions on Literotica have lost their functionality. Best way to advertise for an editor here is to PM one of the folks who announce availability monthly on the sticky thread above and/or post what you would like to have edited on this board (including genre and wordage and not posting until you have a finished draft that you've reviewed closely).

A more aggressive approach and often a better fit (especially since most saying they are editors here, aren't really editors, and many of them aren't any more capable of doing it than you would be) would be to directly contact an author who writes what you'd like to write and who you think do it well and ask them to read and make suggestions, context or technical or both, on a sample story.

Very few here have the time and effort to devote to a voluminous writer, I'm afraid.

Is this a form of fat discrimination or weightism?

No. :D Wordy people, of which we have quite a lot on Literotica. Unfortunately, they seem to have found that low-rating readers don't have a lot of reading stamina and only the high-raters can stick it to the end of a long entry. And high-ratings is the Holy Grail here, of course.

That's a good point. Personally, I bail out when a story starts to smell bad too. I have better things to do with my time. But as a result I've never given a one star rating despite encountering several that may have deserved it.

Trouble finding editor

I, too, have tried several of those listed as editors. I did get one response, but she declined due to changes in her personal life - changes in work schedules and the like.

I like to think I can write a literate sentence. I do admit to dropping words here and there, and I do try to avoid repeating an adjective. For the most part, I'd like to think editing my writing would not that much of a stretch, and I would not be amiss to literary criticism as well.

I am willing to reciprocate. While I may not be the greatest editor, I do find it easier to edit the work of others. That blind eye to my own work sort of thing. That and writing until the wee hours of the morning after work because the muse is being relentless. I know what I mean to say and darn it if you can't pick up my mental constructions like you're supposed to!

So I'm supposed to advertise here?

Translation:

I write 2 page stories and they get bombed and I need an excuse why others scores are higher than mine.

Translation #2 This is also my excuse for fawc where I entered 5, yes 5, stories and still could not win, but the winner was a long story. So therefore it is an advantage.

Addendum to t2 the winner was the first GM effort by the winner, I have been writing GM for years and it kicked my ass and I am bitter.

Reality: People can see how many pages a story is when they open the first page. If they do not like long stories they will click off. But if a long story sucks it will still get voted that way so it has no bearing on scores just as people who like long stories will not bomb a one page one just because.

Translation: I am jealous and obsessed with SR71PLT, so I follow him around with my nose stuck up his ass. I also have a thing for the FAWC contests because I was caught cheating and banned from entering them some time ago. ;)

As for my ratings--which Lovecraft68 loves to talk about more than I ever bring up--that's sort of a duh too. As rabid as LC is about me on the forum, of course he's the one trolling my scores down to his fantasy expectations--so that he can than razz me about them on the board. He's that sick.

Yeah, I think the feature is working

I've had a similar experience that an editor I contacted didn't have time due to personal life etc., and was currently editing a story. I can understand the time commitment and sometimes not being able to do it.

I have spent a fair amount of time getting a first story in shape for an editor to look at. Editing may take a significant time commitment as well. So, it's either back to the well, or just 'throw it out there' let readers provide feedback.

Ways to find editors have been mentioned. And yes, the quest for an editor can be frustrating. Maybe halfway between begging, and just throwing it against the wall to see if it sticks, is to put your draft on a cloud server (I use Dropbox) and post a link. Interested parties can then decide if they might want to be involved, without leaving a trail of PMs.
