Have you noticed on the forum page it lists the number of registered users? When I came on just now, there were 27878 registered users. Now grant it, some just come on to write on one of the role playing boards, others post on the Personals Page (Has anyone ever really looked at that?), and still others post five or ten times and then leave.

Then I look at the GB and notice that on most threads it seems that the same fifty users, give or take a few, post almost everything. That is not to say that MP, KillerMuffin, Sparky (who I still don't get), DCL, Myst, and all the rest are bad, but I often wonder where everyone else is.

A part of me thinks they have disappeared from boredom, but another believes that with the troll hunts (kinda like the Salem Witch Hunts in MHO), the ego clashes, and the tight knit community that is here, they feel left out and leave.

On another thread I heard someone, I can't remember who, so I won't bother picking a name, state that certain members of the board, like bratcat and Mistress, don't contribute much but stupid snuggles or what not. I found that amusing, as sometimes I don't think there to be anything wrong with those things, but perhaps I'm not the intellectual that this person is.

I believe there is an air of snobbery that exists here. Everyone wants you to be clever, witty, highly intelligent, and on occassion throw in a little flirting and when you are not, I believe you are looked down upon. How sad that we cannot all be such wonderfully clever people.

I think

That most of them are just Authors. When you sign up to submit stuff, it also registers you for the message boards.

Nick...

Perhaps I am one of the snobs of whom you speak. In my fantasy world, absoloutely everyone is witty, charming, intelligent, and a great speller.

But I do realise life is more like a box of chocolates than I'd choose.

Within the confines of reality, all I really want here is for people's posts to *contribute* something to the board.

Jokes, opinions, information, help, ideas, whatever. Anything with content. Anything with substance.

You don't have to be Einstein. But if the sum total of your contribution is an endless parade of *snuggles* or a *giggles* then you are contributing absolutely nothing.

and Nick, don't forget that the trolls usually have at least two or three id's. But other than that I agree and with all the lovely ladies posting here, I had to put in my two cents worth.

Some are authors, some are BB'ers, some are just people who register here simply to have an account because they may get something out of it.

Bri

All to often anymore Bri, it seems as though the board has become one huge pissing contest. Rip the gigglers because they don't give some wonderful repartee (excuse the spelling, please). Rip the trolls, troll hunters, and other like people because we just, as someone said, "don't get it." Or hell, not that I'm ripping Deb, because I haven't been paying attention, gotten the time to know her, or anything close to it, rip all the commoners here because we're "dolts."

perception is skewed

of any BB in short periods of time. Every newcomer, be it on a BB or R/L in school, a job, etc... feels left out of the fray. It isn't intentional and it isn't snobbery. It could be that the people here have yet to feel that "comfort" level -- categorize you in a way in order to respond to your posts in a way that makes you feel "included".

Yes, lately there has been more discussion about the trolls and about certain people adopting multi-personalities on the board. If you'll notice, most people really could care less about this, but there are a few die-hards - and some for good reason- that refuse to let this issue die.

Don't disappear because of the reasons you posted. You will find the posters here to be entertaining and sometimes enlightening.

No, I just don't think I'm witty or enlightening enough to post much. And when I do find something I want to post about, its normally been said already and therefore there's no need to state it again.

*chuckle*

I think you're underestimating yourself, dear. Maybe you just have yet to talk about farting? hehe. j/k

Seriously, I've been reading your posts (albeit, not responding) and I find your posts to be well-thought-out and interesting.

You should give it a little more time. Just a thought. :)

Why do you give a flying hoot what I think about your spelling? You don't know me from Eve. Why should my opinion affect you at all?

Sheesh, spell how you want.

As for the snobbery, it exists everywhere, Nick...you should know that. you will get the "regs" that have been here since Day 1 and they hate all the "newbies". It doesn't matter if you have been a member of Litchat, or an author...if you are new to the board, then you get painted with the same brush.

Oh really? I wasn't aware of that.

DB.....

Simply because you state your opinion within a public thread where he/she has posted or may post.

Nothing wrong with that, equally, nothing wrong with a counter opinion. Like mine for instance )

But that's why a flying hoot is given.

I started a thread about how many different people appeared to be the same. And I got a few replies, but the only CONCRETE ones I heard were

Deborah = Flagg

Fuckin' hell, I've never heard that one before! LOL!

Geez Flagg I thought you were Crystal

Little Bro you may only have one female personna. It does not look good being greedy about the whole thing.
