That old people don't clap as loud as young people?

You go to a performance and old people. They look to the side and smile when they clap. No enthusiastic clapping. No woo-hoo ing. Just clapping. Clap clap clap.

Old people thinking to themselves like: "Yeah. I've seen this one before and I know how it ends so I don't want to be seen clapping too loud."

You're old.

I just cant clap in rhythm

Were saving our energy for the more important activities...but then forget what we wanted to do.

Not something I knew before.

You have to vote to register anything... you cant not vote and still have results.

So you realllly dont know the redundant votes at all.

You do know that clapping your hands can be painful when you're old, don't you?

With arthritic hands and weakened muscles, the effort older people put into applause can be just as enthusiatic as younger people's - but we can't keep on doing it.

Are you hating on old people? Is that what this is?

Just you wait, you'll get old one day too. And then we'll laugh at your pathetic attempts to turn off the light.

Friggin kids. Get off my lawn.

Denny

And then they ask you to make a cup of tea? Most of us here are not tea drinkers so after we've had the clap we drink cheep beer.

And at a gathering ask you to find their brother or other close relative? Yes because they are lonely or just want you to go away and leave then alone

And then request you do that thing that doesn't have to be done right now but it's better to do it now before 6 weeks? With short term dementia most of us old farts will forget if we don't do it right away.

dolf------------ By far the better answer. Now git offin my lawn for I sic the Poodles on ya!

Have ya'll noticed These here thread posts are gettin weirder and weirder?

It's proper to clap softly so you don't wake up the older person sitting next to you.

That's true, but the way Lit is going, it is bringing back my memories of Kindergarten quite clearly... are they sure this board isn't a recess project at some Junior High? geesh, and I thought I'd put all those childhood memories to rest a LONG time ago LOL

Once you're old, you've chalked up a lot of stunning experiences and seen a lot of genius artists at work. What young people cheer for just isn't the same caliber.

Yes, I've noticed that the older tend to be more respectful and less disruptive and boisterous.

Plus they have to save their claps for their Clappers to turn things on and off.

I'm a loud-ass clapper and proud of it. I shall remain so for the rest of my days. HEAR MY POWER.

I don't clap. I just stick my nose up and say "Hear, hear" in a phony British accent.

I not only clap thunderously loud but also pride myself in being the last one clapping. Challenge me to a clap off. Go ahead!! I'll take ya'll down.

Define 'OLD'.

Most of the gigs I go to, the audience is 90% over 40 and 50% over 60. And they can make some noise! And there was Hawkwind fan celebrated her 85th birthday at one of their concerts! You don't clap quietly at a gig.

Several decades ago I went to a so-called pop concert by Frank Ifield.

I couldn't hear most of his songs because of a thousand screaming teenagers. For Frank Ifield? WTF?

A week later, in the same venue, I went to the first performance in the West of a new organ piece by a Czech composer. All three of us enjoyed it and showed our appreciation as loudly as six hands could.

Later I went to the first appearance of Cream at a weekend festival. The audience listened in appreciative silence until the end when they erupted in a massive noise of approval.

I think she meant that old people are feeble clappers in their old age, not that they had never clapped.
