I have twice. One was pretty amazing, and the other was a sham.

I have been to a few. two were sham artists telling generalaties that could apply to anyone.

one scares the bejesus out of me!;)

I have, twice. Both were crap. And a friend paid
for a consultation with a psychic on the phone.
A birthday present. :)

That was crap too, claimed I was repressing
sexual abuse issues that would continue to
'cloud' my life and future happiness.

To this dayI wonder if that particular 'psychic'
enjoyed the high pitched whistle blown in her ear.

:(

I have had my tea leaves 'read' and that was
'on the button.'

I believe in psychic ability but there are also a lot
of charlatans and disreputable 'psychic's' out to make
a $.

A tarot card reading I had was very close. :)

yeah, did once, she said I was going to have 5 kids and a long life... I'm laughing now I can tell ya

(edited, sorry, in a real misgog mood)

My mother used to run a club for a large company that was dedicated to the supernatural. This was back in the 80's, I was a teenager and they would pay me $40 to go setup tables and get the space prepared. They had, I believe, 40 psychics of different variations in one part of the building. I think it was $7 for a 20 minute reading, then you could take their card and get a more detailed reading later. Some of them would sellout their day within the first hour of the fair, others wouldn't.

The rest of the fair was numerology, astrology, aura pictures, walking on firey stones, whatever could interest people and sell.

After the fair, and on other occasions, certain psychics would be invited over to our house for gatherings. Strange, eccentric, bunch of people. My mother started to read tarot cards after a while, she claims that the key is that the person who is havin their cards read must shuffle or touch the cards. She also learned some keys to reading palms. I'm having 2.5 relationships (marriage type) and only one child (I have two now).

So, I'm not sure what to think. I met many of these people, they were quite interesting, some more facinating than others. I had different types of readings from different people, I really was too young to give an accurate impression. But there's one thing I know, if they are on television, they are scamming for money

My 2 cents.....

I've had readings before....most of them at least 85-99%
accurate...and a choice few that were just like, "yeah
right, sure whatever".......

I have a good male friend who has been practicing the
Tarot for more than 20 years, and at least 95-99% of
the time he's on target with me (he does this in addition
to his day job, which is a research librarian).....his
grandmother taught him the Tarot years ago.......

Also, around here in CT, there is an outfit called PHD
that runs psychic fairs around Fairfield and New Haven
counties during year........the psychics that are at these
fairs are screened beforehand, and some of them have
been doing these fairs for a number of years now (PHD
started back in 1984)....their website is
www.ctpsychics.com if you want to take a peek. I've
been to many of the fairs before........not only you get
get Tarot/card readings, but also astrology, gemstones,
past lives, numerology, etc. I even met someone there
who is now a good friend who is not only a reader, but
also is into the essential oils (he sells them).....

I went once with a girlfriend. I was told to think of 'one' question in my head. It was quite personal. I never once uttered the question out loud. When it was my turn she took both of my hands in her's, I remember her face softened to me, she smiled a sad smile, and said "Honey, you know you are never going to have children...Isn't there something else you would rather ask me today?" I freaked out and left in tears. I knew the answer to my own question, but it spooked me that she did too.

That is scary.....some psychics have that talent to read
a person like a book......that's what my male friend (one
that I mentioned in earlier post) can do with me.....

I went to a psychic fair once.. this lady told me that I would be going to college within the next 2 years, and that I would meet a raven haired guy. Well I did for both.. and the raven haired guy was my absolute favorite boyfriend ever.

She also delved into my past life.. she said she saw me in a gypsy life.. and that there is a gypsy woman with me now at all times, kind of protecting me. This blew me away because I have always had an interest in the whole gypsy lifestyle.. back when they travelled in caravans and gathered around bon fires and dance and sang. That and my bellydancing are totally up my creek.

I'm a believer that there are people that truly have the gift.. but I also believe that there are more people who scam it to make money.

I agree that there are those who have "the true gift"....
and those out there who are scammers who want to
make money off of people, which is really a shame.....

I never ever called phone psychics, but I have a
friend of mine who did several times back when she
was in college.......the phone bill was atrocious......and
she had to pay every single penny......

On those phone lines I've heard that they keep you on
hold forever....that's how they make their money......

really terrible :(

I wouldn't ever call a phone psychic, waste of hard earned money.

I'm the kind of person who will walk around the fair, and the psychic I felt the strongest vibe from is the person I go to.. I usually get a connection too stong to be able to walk away.

Agreed!!!

:)

Gemini's are a psychic's dream...................

because we are sooooooooooo curious about ourselves......LOL.

I've been to perhaps 6 psychics.......some that read by the stars alignment on the day/time of my birth; one in Istanbul read by coffee grounds; outside of New Orleans--I visited a "witch".she was scary accurate..............

I never tell them anything about me. After I was married, the wedding ring is always off (no white lines on my hands as I don't wear it for beach vball).

Some are just shams......the usual blah blah about what they think we'd all like to hear......but every now and then..........there is one that blows my mind telling me about my 'past' and and events that have happened...........

Well worth the $$$$ to have some fun

I've been to several psychics, mainly through Renn Fair, and one who was a close family friend. I've found that the more they hype themselves, the less they can do, usually. Tarot seems to be the best way for me to be read, due to scars and hyperlineation on my hands, and the fact that I can never find a decent star gazer/ reader.

I wish we had Renn Faires here (Oregon).. or if we do, I don't know about it. I heard there is a huge one in Arizona.. how do you find out about these things?

I don't like those readers who tell me what they'd think
I'd like to hear...........I'd rather get a scare that is
connected to an event going on in my present life than
get all flowers and stars thru the rose colored glasses....

They actually travel throughout the year. We get our 2 in late summer. You can generally run a search on them. Out here (Bay Area of California) they do advertise, etc.

The Ren Faire's here in Colorado in June. I'm not sure what direction they travel the country in, though.

The only time I've paid for readings were at psychic fairs that were donating the money to charities (like animal shelters, etc.). Any other readings I've had done were by friends (big pagan community here in Denver :) )

I've only been to one (at one of the psychic fairs) that was a loon. I walked in wearing an amethyst crystal pendant, and she says she sees me very much into crystals (duh!), she'd seen me getting a reading at the tarot table, then tells me I'm into the tarot (she was SMART!), then tells me I'm some Egyptian queen living on a gorgeous estate with many attendants...sorry, I'd have had more faith in her if she'd told me I was some peasant girl living on a pig farm in medieval France or something. Then she looked me right in the eye and asked, "Have you ever felt as though you came from another planet?" My reply was, "Well, not in this lifetime." At least the money went to a good cause.

I've had things told to me during other types of visionary experiences, also (no, no drugs were involved :p). I've participated in quite a few lowanpi (Native American healing) ceremonies, and an inipi on the Northern Cheyenne Rez up in Montana, and a channeling here in Denver that blew me away. And, of course, during some Wiccan ceremonies things have happened.

Hmm, some are good and some are shams- but the thing to remember- is that the future isn't set in concrete- If you decided to go to the mall after dinner instead of going to the movie it could affect the future to a different outcome. It is like a constantly changing river.

Tarot cards usually work pretty well but are seldom good for more than a week or two- I personally do palm reading and I can tell you that it is almost impossible to predict the number of children or relationships- especially on a woman's hand

With women, child lines mean more then just actual children, it can also refer to close relationships with other people's children and potential children-- How many you might have if you didn't regulate it. etc.

And marriage lines do not specifically refer to marriages- I have three love lines and have been married twice but I had a very important relationship that never resulted in marriage too.

Palm reading is very difficult to learn and learn well, it takes years of practice to be able to get a good reading.

I went once - and that was enough for me. She started out reading my palm, which was a joke in itself as I had been reading palms for a number of years. (a little out of practice now) She started telling me that I was in a bad relationship at the time. (WOW! Since I'm at a "psychic", there must be something wrong in my life, and as I'm female, it more than likely has to do with a relationship!?!?) She went into this long elaborate tale that I had lived a previous life with the man I was currently involved in, but there was another woman who had been interested in him as well. She supposedly plotted my murder and was never caught, and ended up with the guy. Present day: the same guy and I are back together, but this woman has reincarnated as well, and is playing havoc with our relationship because she still harbors jealousies from our previous life.

Yeah.

Whatever.

I've been to a couple of psychics who were right on the money. I'd go again if I found one that I had a good feeling about.

It's interesting that psychics seem to have twice the credibility of God according to the very unscientific lit polls.

The one psychic I went to years ago that was right on was a very spiritual person.

I don't know how much credit I give to psychics now, but when I was younger (I'm talking 10 to 15 here), I was so keen on calling a psychic hotline out of curiosity, but was too scared that they'd "know" that I was under 18 and bitch me out or something... lol

hell, sometimes i am psychic. i just never know in advance when it's going to happen.

it can fuck up your day/life.
