Now, i know some people on Lit see FAN FIC as plagiarism, even though by definition a possible author is a fan of said show, character, etc., and many authors still put their heart and soul into their work. i think, just like with original work, it's a labor of love!
That said, off and on (hey, if i had school or work i didn't care about missing an episode, and you could miss a year and catch up on the storyline in a month or less!) i've watched All my Children and One Life to Live since i was a child.
Sure, there were many cheesy and downright stupid side storylines over the years, but as a whole i think the backbone of many soaps was good. What inspired me to write this thread was today's (Thurs, Aug 16th) build up for tomorro'w 10,000 episode!
Okay, so i'm a sucker for touching story lines (and cried at many Series Finales), and while not quite a finale today's show brought tears to my eyes. i also think it's nice and touching to see the same actors and actresses grow up, or simply change and age over the years. Hard to see that in shows anymore since even the "long running" ones end after 7 years of joy.
So, i'm wondering, is ayone else truly a fan of soaps? The downs as well as the ups?
Is there "Lit potential" in such a fan fic? Post your feedback, please! i'm dying to know!
