It seems that since I started writing I have really slowed down my reading of other's work. I regret that, but have limited time.

How much of other author's submissions do you REALLY read?

Hola! SubSue. Welcome first. Yeah, I'd rather write than read. When I find myself reading too much I often see that I'm avoiding writing. If we all just spent time reading Lit. there'd be nothing to read eventually. Hang about here though when you need a break; it's mostly fun.

Yes to what perdita said.

Writers as a group are avid readers. But one has to be subordinate to the other. Keep it up and eventually you will reach a balance between the two.

And welcome to Lit. Post a lot, chat a lot, have lots of fun.

I read in bursts. Honestly I usually read the stories from Story Feedback or the one's listed in other member's sig lines. Other than that, when I'm in the mood, I just scan the categories I like. Maybe two or three stories a week.

I find that I'm a binge writer. I read alot more than I write. I can go months without writing a thing and then I can't go more than a few hours without writing once I get started. I'll lose a week or a few days because I have this story that needs to come out and I can't concentrate on a thing until I get it done. I don't read much when I write, but I definitely read alot when I'm 'between stories'

Usually I just read the first paragraph and then I skim for the sex.

KM " Usually I just read the first paragraph and then I skim for the sex."

Usually I just read the buildup and skim the sex.

That might however be a bad strategy for someone like me, who pepole tell that while the stories are pretty decent, he needs to write better bumping sections.

i usually skim for the sex then read the first paragraph:D

i haven't written much yet and not posted what i have written, so i guess i'm still an avid reader:) but i can see that if i did get serious about writing i'd probably read less, probably drop the first para and just skim for the sex:devil:

Once upon a time...

I use to be an avid reader. Then I started writing because I knew damn well that I could write better trash than what I was reading at that time. Now If I can get through the first paragraph without throwing up, then I'll read through the whole story. Otherwise I'll read a good book occationally.

I don't tend to read many of the other stories. If I notice a friend has a new story up I'll check it out. Otherwise, every once and awhile I'll just read about 5-10 stories at a time when I'm super horny.

Every now and then, I will cruise the New stories or check out the Top Lists in my favorite categories. I also look for familiar names, and people who've impressed me favorably on the boards.
