The so-called Olympics are an embarassment to the world. They are excessive, bourgois, politically correct, wasteful, pointless, expensive, filled with professional cheaters and liars, run by corrupt IOC plutocratic morons who leetch off the world's taxpayers.

Its time to ABOLISH the Olympics as an archaic relic of a different age that doesn't make sense in the 21st century.

Not only do they now allow full blown professionals to be in the so-called Olympics, they actually allow them to paid for the Olympics themselves:

If the so-called Olympics are nothing more than a money making professional sports festival for the organizers and the competitors, then IT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GET ANY TAXMONEY FROM ANY COUNTRY.

Call it what it is, get rid of any pretext of idealism and move on. Let it stand on its own without the "noble ideal" pretext which became a complete sham long ago. I predict it would wither on the vine once people realize its just a professional money making machine pretending to be something of major importance to the world.

"With 100 days to go before the curtain rises on the London Games, activists are stepping up their campaign against the corporate sponsors’ dubious environmental credentials. They accuse the companies of paying for their “green” status.

Environmental protesters and human rights activists have launched a new campaign entitled Greenwash Gold. The initiative features three animated films, calling for the public to vote for the London Games’ “worst corporate sponsor.”

London has dubbed the Games as the “greenest ever”, but the involvement of companies such as Dow Chemicals, BP, Coca Cola and McDonald’s has drawn activists’ ire. Their multimillion-pound sponsorship of the sports event wins them the title of “sustainable partners.” Activist groups have branded this as an attempt to “greenwash” past unethical activities.

I love the concept of the Olympic games.... pitting the top athletes of their chosen sports against eachother.
But I am thoroughly disgusted by the vast excesses of money being spent in one-upmanship as each host country tries to outdo the previous one with 'bigger, better, more sparkly' ceremonials and venues.
In it's current form, the opening ceremony is better attended than any other part of the games (if you take into account the broadcast viewers.)
And that's not what it's supposed to be about.

The doping bothers me. Maybe there should a death penalty that if one member of a country gets caught doping all of that county's teams for all events are eliminated.
