Has the monthly contests stopped?

Just noticed that the last monthly readers' choice was for Feb 2017 and was awarded in June 2018. Has these contests stopped?

I think you've answered your own question, it being 2019...

There's always been a delay in the contests, and it's increased gradually. So, no. Just because nothing has happened for nearly a year doesn't mean the contests have ceased.

I’m still waiting to see if I got nominated for anything in the 2017 annual awards.

Quite frankly, that sounds a wee bit optimistic.

I remember when I started two years ago, the contests were still a thing. The delay then was perhaps half a month. There was information about the monthly contests on the main page, or somewhere in the stories & poems page. Nowadays there is nothing (I can find) mentioning them.

EDIT: I just double-checked and no, nothing. What I did find however is that you can see the best rated stories of the last 30 days. It even shows how many votes there are. If the contests still took place, that would be the perfect tool to rig the results.

This is still on the page:

I only started writing here last year, but read in these forums that the contests -- more precisely, the awards for winning any of these contests -- had been discontinued some time ago. There was never any official announcement made that the awards had been discontinued, nor have the "contests" ceased.

Your confusion on this matter is perfectly understandable.

In case you've missed it there are a whole lot of things around here that are no longer being done. Just go to the front page and try some of the "features" or news.

Support is non-existent anymore. Issues are not dealt with.

I watched several long term sites shut down recently. I suspect this one may be circling the drain. I hope not. For close to twenty years this has been my fav site and I would really, really miss it. :(

But the clues are all there!

If so, it's a slow death. It was this way when I started posting here in 2006. I got a denial and called a troll by Laurel for pointing out all the nonfunctioning "features" here--sometime around 2009.

That's one of my points. I got my pee pee slapped in the forum years ago for doing something I didn't know was against the rules. I wrote Laurel and apologized. She responded within a couple of days. Another time a support problem was dealt with almost immediately.

Head on up to the support threads and see how many people are getting responses anymore. Pretty much zero, everything/everybody is getting ignored.

I had a major support issue last summer. Even getting to the point of threatening to sue brought no response, I'm still waiting.

That's a sign of the principals having given up, never a good thing on a site. :(

Monthly contests? Ain't they like reindeer hooves on the roof?

Okay, the update.

Monthly contests are not dead - they're just very far behind. There's a lot of work going in to a ffull site redesign, which has taken way longer than expected and is way more complicated than first thought because Literotica is moving from old tech to brand new tech. It is happening!

It's taking all of Manu's time and also a good chunk of Laurel's time, which is why LIT is behind on nearly everything else. The intention is to get caught up on the monthlies, but there will be a delay!

One new feature being working on is the ability for LIT to push announcements out to every user. This will enable LIT to make everyone aware of things like the Challenges, and will hopefully expand the participation beyond the AH.

Hope that helps .... it's a case of be patient, it's coming.

Chloe, let me be clear that I don't doubt you on this. I am just curious, did Laurel tell you this directly?

I have and will continue to avoid the contests. More a matter of curiosity. :)

Yes, I pm’d Laurel and asked on behalf of us all about the monthly contests. The short answer is Manu and Laurel are working hard on the site redesign and rebuild, which is taking a lot more time and effort than expected. We saw the first phase there with the new control panel and there’s more coming.

The monthly ones aren’t a contest tho. It’s just a sort of the stories submitted each month and the top rated ones get a monthly award. You don’t enter those ones. All stories submitted in the month are eligible. But it’s a couple of years since anything happened with those.

A couple months were announced recently. The lists are up in the contests sub-forum.

Well then the monthly contests haven't stopped. I'd guess that Laurel doesn't have enough time for them to be very high on her list of priorities.

Well, I can understand if there’s a lot of redesign going on. I’m all for that. This is a great site.

The day after this thread first posted and the day Chloe asked about them. Interesting.

Took some time out from the new site work to push through a couple and demonstrate they're undoubtedly not defunct, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a long gap before more hit.
