Has the Lit Search Engine been changed

The "Search" function does not return a search by individual posts any more, just threads.

For example you used to be able to put in the persons name under "Search By User Name"

Then click the radio button for "show results as posts"

And the result would be the user's individual posts. Bingo.

Now it just returns the threads containing the posts just as if you had left the radio button in the default "show results as threads."
You have to then look through each whole thread to find the individual posts. Tedious.

Anyone know anything about this?

Have I overlooked or changed a setting somewhere?

I do't believe it's been deliberately changed to work that way, but I notice that the "search" button an "find all posts by this user" link in the user profile is working again and that defaults to the display results as posts format you want.

Perhaps fixing the one problem caused the other?

Thanks Harold,

I didn't even know about the "find all posts..." feature. I suspect that you are right about one fix causing another problem. I think I will ask Lit support or pm Laurel.

I'm not sure if it's the same thing at all Mr Teach but I just clicked on "search" under your post and got a list of individual posts back to january this year.

It may not be the same thing or it may be a long-winded way about doing it, but is it possible for you to find a post by the person you're looking for and use that link?

Thanks, Gauche. That will work just fine for most searches.

What you can't do, however, that you used to be able to do with the search function at the top of the page is find a person's posts without having to locate one of their recent posts.

For example, quickly find a post from someone who has not posted on the boards for a while.

I was going to look up some old MathGirl posts the other day and noticed that the search engine no longer worked the way it used to.
