Has anything changed in advertising ?
When I read through the text on this print ad, I was not sure if it was a real ad from the 1950 - 1960 magazines, or not.

Black and white picture, of mother and child and a vintage style glass bottle.
A mother of a growing toddler would want to know when it was appropriate to let a baby have food items and beverages. A woman who had her first child would worry. Back when this advertisement was part of current media publications, anyone could call their doctor on the land line phone. Doctors would visit the patients homes, if someone in the home was too ill to travel!
I was born in 1954, and carbonated beverages were a part of a birthday party, as much as a birthday cake and candy.
Baby's first birthday, and he or she gets an introduction to sugar.
What has changed, is what has happened to sugar.
Profit is king, today. Produce it in a cheap way, deliver it faster. Stays on the shelf until you are dead. What is in it ? Trade secrets, patented process. Food chemists worked on it. Food consultants are paid well, because food is not food, anymore.
Do you know if your food has nano level flavorings in it ?

Where do nanoparticles end up if the body cannot break them down?
Researchers are just beginning to address that question. The UK's Food Safety Authority (FSA) has been running two projects that look specifically at what happens when nanoparticles are ingested and results are due in the next few months.
Sandy Lawrie, head of novel foods at the FSA, hopes the research will help companies planning to use nanotechnology test the safety of their products.
Aside from these studies, there is relatively little toxicology data on ingested nanoparticles, although that doesn't necessarily mean that the nanoparticles are dangerous, says Lawrie.

I was given coca cola syrup when I was a child.
I do not remember why.
If coca Cola was made at the turn of the last century,
Feb 26, 2015 Celebration of one hundred years of Coca Cola.
Everything was sold as a medicine.
If it had cocaine in it, you would certainly feel more energetic.
Our great grandparents passed the knowledge onto our grandparents.
Now, our parents have a preference, but the original premise is lost.
You give a toddler a Coke to help them feel better, but the Coke we have now is a soup of chemicals. A hundred years ago, it may have had a positive medial effect.
Now, the stuff in Coke can cause cancer. The only Coke with real sugar is Kosher.
If the mother asked her baby's pediatrician if it was safe for the toddler's have Coke, he would most likely say NO. Studies have been done, and it is bad news for the child's future health.

Mystery, here. Cocaine or cacao ?
All these ingredients were made from the source.
No artificial flavorings.
Organic was all they had.
Now they use organic materials, to make cheap chemical substitutes.
This is what I was told when I asked the company about their “natural flavors.
"The natural flavoring is a natural cinnamon flavor derived from the oil extractive, part or in whole, and from oil extracts of citrus which could include mandarin orange, orange, tangelo or tangerine.
They will not tell you how it is made, which chemicals were used, what the steps are in the process. It is an industrial secret. But you will not find citrus peels in nature, that taste of cinnamon. Organic cinnamon is cinnamon.

OTOH I saw men that were wearing doctor's lab coats and wearing a stethoscope, telling people that cigarettes were a healthy habit.
People smoked cigarettes everywhere.
"1935, RJ Reynolds told consumers that Camel cigarettes were so mild that “they don't get your wind” and that you could “smoke all you want”. In 1943, Philip Morris told smokers “ you're safer smoking Philip Morris . . .this cigarette has been scientifically proved less irritating to the nose and throat . . .eminent doctors report that every case of irritation of the nose and throat due to smoking cleared completely or definitely improved.” In 1943, Lorillard promoted its Old Gold brand by claiming it was “lowest in nicotine, lowest in throat—irritating tars and resins.” In 1946, Brown and Williamson used baseball legend Babe Ruth to pitch Raleigh cigarettes, with the claim that “Medical science offers proof positive . . .No other leading cigarette is safer to smoke!” Ironically, Babe Ruth later died of throat cancer."
What are they saying about Vapor cigarettes ?
