My thought about the apparent easy going was that Saddass was waiting for us to encircle Baghdad before unleashing the chem weps.
He may be a sadistic low life piece of scum, but I wouldn't put it past him to use them when he knows it's all he has left.

Possible chem weapon use
CNN had a report this morning from their medical doctor, who's attached to a field hospital. He reported around 9:20 AM EST on March 24 that they had a gas alert, and he said four soldiers were being brought in by ambulance for treatment. The ambulance could be seen, and everyone had on the full chem suits (I'm ex-Air Force and trained with them several times). However, they never went back to the doctor-reporter, and no more was said about it, at least before I had to go to work.
I checked CNN and foreign news outlets on the Net the rest of the day, but I didn't see anything confirming it. Hopefully it was just a false alarm.
