Has anyone ever.........

carried on a laptop on a plane?......I heard that you must leave the laptop on so they can see it is real and not a fake loaded with drugs but do you put it thru the metal detector? What about disks can the x rays screw up a disk?

I never took my laptop on a comerical plane before......and need help with this matter.

I will be checking one bag into the cargo area and could put the disks in there but I want the laptop on the plane with me as carry on.

Well every year in Febuary the boss and I spend about 8 or 9 days in Daytona beach for speed week and to watch the Daytona 500 auto race.
It is a work trip but we have alot of fun there also and it is nice to get the fuck away from all this snow too.

I will be doing so work for the airport this week and will find out for sure but it was bugging me and I thought for sure someone here has done this........I hate to let my laptop go thru the x-ray and get wiped out cause I didn't know better and the fucking guard didn't tell me......I have to try to get a free dial up from down there set up so I can check the board and do my normal stuff aswell as I might even Im Skitten........I normaly call but maybe I could do both this trip......

Thanks Indy, thats what I wanted to know....from someone who has done it....I was worried about my disks too.......I have my freaking life on that dam thing.....

Wizard, make a backup copy of all your disks. Take one copy on the plane with you, and one copy in your checked luggage. Just to be extra safe, you might mail another copy to the place you will be working at. You can't be too safe, you know.
