This is the casting call for the SRP set in 1929 Confederate North Carolina, in Harry Turtledove's American Empire: series. These are not the characters from the book, however, but entirely original characters in the same background of an alternate South that has won two wars with the USA, but lost the Great War to the same United States, along with the rest of the Quadruple Entente, who are almost entirely beaten by the Quadruple Alliance. The only Entente member to hold its own is the Empire of Japan, which has adopted an unofficial truce for now, but not signed any peace treaty or armistice.
The Great Depression has hit many nations hard, especially the Confederate States of America. The far-right, racist Freedom Party has risen in popularity, under the fiery fanatic Jake Featherston, a former artillery sergeant in the Army of Northern Virginia. The Socialist-led USA has tried to adopt a softer approach than the Democrats did under Theodore Roosevelt in the immediate wake of the Alliance victory. After all, the USA has found the third time at war with the CSA to be the proverbial charm and has relaxed its militant resentment (called Remembrance) of the South.
This thread is mostly set in Raleigh, North Carolina.
