Harley Rider Hero Story

A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Washington , DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.

The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.

Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event.

The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.'

The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt I should.'

The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?'

The biker replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.'

The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:

That pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days.

No, Zeb, it only sums up the way you want to believe the media treats Republicans. And it's no surprise to me that you have to make up a fable to get across this point. Because if you look at the facts, they, unfortunately, show most republicans being less than heroic. Like the recent republican congressman who apologized to BP when the president suggested they put aside some money to help out the fishermen they've ruined with that oil leak.

Real heroic of him to come to the aid of the oil company against those big bad fisher folk who are, likely, going to lose homes, not be able to fed their families, etc., because of this mess. How could the media be so mean to that republican? Well, see, they can be mean because...he's no a hero. That's why it take a fable, a story, a fiction, a FANTASY in order to make republicans "heroes." Too bad the facts keep showing that so many of them are villains instead. And too bad that means that when the media reports stories on them, that's what they look like. No need for any bias to make them look that way, they do it all themselves. In fact, the media is often pretty soft on them.

But don't worry. Luckily for republicans, they still have their own channel (FOX) to lie for them and make them look heroic no matter what they do...and also ownership of most newspapers now. Believe me, most of the media works hard to make them look okay. It's too bad that what they, themselves do, just keeps poking through the whitewash.

Facts will do that. Fiction is the only place where you can get away with such lies. Keep on lying to yourself, Zeb. It's the only way you're going to be able to keep on believing you're on the side of heroes.

Problem #1 - I never credited it to me or anyone else as a "True" story.

I remember when this joke first made the rounds on the Bike Threads. It was a couple of years ago and wasn't pointing fingers at a president but rather on how people were viewing the Immigration Policies of the United States.
