I'm always trying to find stories with these characters... remembering the romance novels of my younger years... only with X-rated DETAILS... Not sure where to find these types of stories... Love historically accurate settings mixed with lust and power, and raunch... Any ideas where I could find some stories along these lines???

You won't find a lot of these stories on lit. They are hard to write and the research is killer. I've seen a few, but none are really quite accurate. These stories tend to be tained by the Hollywood image, not reality.

My Kobekistan is set in the 21st Century but with all the traditions of an older era. This enables me to avoid real anachronisms without losing the "finer" aspects of slavery. The intro to the two stories will explain.

So where do we find the historically accurate details?

Google terms like harem, sultan, eunuch, etc and pick the bones out of what appears. (Tip: When googling harem always add -procul on the end of the search terms to avoid a lot of irrelevant pages.)

Absolutely tongues, hands, objects, etc. and some of them could get erections, they just couldn't impregnate the sultan's women. (That's how they go the job!)

No eunuchs did not "chose celibacy" they were castrated! Sometimes as very young boys so they could be groomed for jobs in the harem, sometimes as slaves. But not all were castrated in the same way or for the same reasons... hence differing sexual abilities amoung them. But none could sire offspring making them no threat to the Sultan. (he probably also assumed none of them could get it up either!)

However they were SKILLED in the ways of pleasure regardless of their ability to get an erection. They used these skills to form alliances with powerful women of the hareem who weren't "getting enough" from the Sultan. Often the Head Eunuch was as powerful or more powerful than the mother of the crown prince...

They also participated in preparing the virgins and "newbies" to the harem on the ways of pleasing the Sultan. What good is a virgin slave girl who just lays there? hahahahahahahaha

I also believe they had the power to issue punishment to wayward women of the harem. hmmmmmm (B&D)???

It's doubtful any self-respecting Sultan would ever let any man touch a woman in his hareem. And if the harem master allowed such a thing to take place his head would roll....

On the other hand the women of the hareem had plenty of time and opportunity to service each other... and when the Sultan was tired of one of the women he could always give her away as a gift.... and who knows, maybe he enjoyed watching his former slave perform for the recipeint of the "gift"...

However I'm all ears for a story of a Sultana who decides to have a male harem.. hahahahahahahahahah I've always thought that was a good idea...

I've discovered this evening that there is a story (written in 1905) about a world where men, instead of women, have to live guarded from the public eye (otherwise known as purdah). Although this isn't about harems, it does give an interesting view on alternate male-female relations in muslim-societies.

The story is called "Sultana's dream", and is written by Roquia Sakhawat Hussain. Wikipedia has a link to the story itself, just type in the title of the story.

I read all of this in PG -R rated (semi-historically accurate) novels set in that time period. This was many years ago and unfortunately I got rid of my paperback collection long ago. I was just hoping someone could infuse those "vanilla" flavored stories with some HEAT AND SPICE

This is true up to a point.
The Sultan is like a Russian Zar, so he doesn't train anyone.

Virgins were groomed at a very young age (around 16) on how to flirt, tease, and please a man or Kama Sutra (not just sex).
Sultans pick virgins (wears chastity belt) to be a companion, confidant, and muse without sexual feelings getting in the way.
In fact, sex was looked upon as an entertaining diversion rather than a sexual thrill, and nobody but the Sultan may touch a girl in a sexual manner, and whoever does will be punished by either starvation (chained and left bricked up), put in the iron maiden (not the band), pulled on the rack, whipped and stoned to death in the stocks, or had his penis severed (the part semen comes out of, not the same as a eunuch).
