Happy thanksgiving right back at you

Here's my contribution to dinner!

Seriously though, for a while there you didn't think you would be here for this.

* Hugs you and twirls you around the room *

You did good.

You made me smile, I thank you for that :)

We are eating out tonight to celebrate.

I no longer eat turkey so we are going to an Italian restaurant where they serve the most orgasmic and unusual salads:eek::rose:

I so wish you could come.......

Loved your contribution giggles

Happy Thanksgiving Card

I could take a guess at what Columbus Day celebrates but it is not a holiday I have heard of before...is it a big day in the states or just Canada?

Columbus day happens in the States it coincides with our (Canadian) thanksgiving, their Thanksgiving is in the beginning of Nov.

I do believe it was when Columbus discovered America but mistook it for Japan.

I am not really up on it I am a Brit and at school we studied the countries close to us

Oh dear yeishia, geography and history are certainly not your strong points love :)

USA Thanksgiving is last Thursday in November. I know this becuase on my first trip to NYC that was when we arrived, for a weekends shopping, busiest frigging weekend of the year in New York LOL

And as to Columbus looking for Japan, nope, he was looking for the East Indies, and what he found is now called the West indies.

Columbus Day's not a big deal where I am in the States, but I've no clue about other places.

Happy Thanksgiving Yeishia *holds up a turkey shadow puppet and waves it around a bit*

Any day that does not let a college student take a day off is totally absurd and I think they just wanted him to feel special since he couldn't find the REAL india.

Anyhow, Happy Thanksgiving my canadian lit friends!

Thanks very one:) :rose:

You may be right CT I know nothing about the States be it History or Geography:eek:

runs and hides giggling

You mean Canada hasn't become an official US state yet? Man we are slacking on our world domination...

Teasing of course... mostly. :p

India. He thought it was India, and called the islands he landed on the Indies. But he didn't discover anything. Norsemen were there centuries earlier. I don't get why Columbus day hasn't had its holiday status revoked.

He didn't discover it and neither did the vikings. The prehistoric peoples who became the native americans did during the ice age.

It's still a holiday mostly because its been a holiday for a long time and it would be a horrendous pain in the but to revoke it. People would get pissed and they'd get letters from 8 year olds in crayon railing away at why they were taking away Columbus day...just look to the public reaction when the astronomical community demoted Pluto to a planetoid.

Oh and happy thnaksgiving or Columbus day everybody.
