Wow! Holidays galore!

The first (today!) is eponymously obvious. Apparently it originated in New Zealand. Yay Kiwis!

The second (also today!) is known to all lovers of liberté and fraternité. And there's no one who loves liberté and fraternité more than we do here at Lit.

For the third (tomorrow, in England), a poem:

St Swithin's Day, if it does rain
Full forty days, it will remain
St Swithin's Day, if it be fair
For forty days, t'will rain no more.

Yeah, right. Rain no more in England. That's a good one. Snort.

The Kiwi's declared National Nude Day after protracted negotiation with the sheep following the introduction of the 1862 Wellington Boot Act.

Bastille Day involves suicidal men riding bicycles up the highest mountain in France - Tour de France is on the TV... they just slowed for a piss break

St Swithin's Day is a con... the sonnet doesn't stipulate a precise location.

Does this mean that today we're supposed to storm the barricades, naked, carrying an umbrella?

Some celebration this is.

(Today is my favorite aunt's birthday. She would have been 98 yo. RIP Aunt Rita)
