Some people concentrate their efforts on the expectations of Christmas; the gifts. To me, Christmas is a time to celebrate special friendships that are interconnected by mankind; to tell a loved one just how much you care for them. It's a time to seek out moments of peace and calm, to be rid of all hatred and negative energies. It's a time to reflect upon the mistakes we've made, knowing that the new year will provide us with another chance to make adjustments so that we don't travel the same path again.

Christmas is when a child embraces you for no reason whatsoever and says, I love you. Christmas is curling up on the couch with your favorite blanket and watching your favorite holiday movie. Christmas is becoming uplifted and tearful when you hear your favorite carol on the radio. Christmas is when the smell of cookies in the oven spark up nostalgia. Christmas is knowing that it's better to give, than to receive. Christmas is wishing we could take away the pain of those who are hurting, even if only for a few moments. It's respecting the fact that we all value the spirit of the holiday for different reasons. It's a time to enjoy that extraordinary feeling in your heart.

As the promise of a new year welcomes us, let the love and light of the divine power wash over you. As you open your gifts, open your hearts and remember that your life, your friends and family, and your happiness are your gift. Remember the true meaning of christmas, of the miracle that was given to us and know how blessed you are. Count your blessings, and be a blessing.
