Yeah, yeah, we've all heard the touching, heart-warming story of the "first Thanksgiving": how the Pilgrims were starving, and the local native Americans (sometimes incorrectly referred to as "Indians"), the Wampanoags, came to their aid with a bounteous feast. Of course, the Pilgrims, and those who followed them, repaid the native Americans for their kindness and generosity by carrying out genocide against them, stealing their land, raping their women, etc. The book, "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee," makes painfully clear the enormous moral superiority of the native Americans to the European invaders.

This is not even to mention the enslavement of many Africans, and their forced importation to this country. While you're scarfing down your Thanksgiving feast, remember that this entire country is made up of stolen land, and unless you're a native American or African-American (they were brought here against their will, and hence through no fault of their own), you have absolutely no right to be here. Go back to Europe, where you belong!

Also keep in mind that this country was built with the unpaid (or grossly underpaid) labor of African-American slaves, Chinese-American coolies, Mexican-Americans, etc., who are collectively owed billions, if not trillions, of dollars in reparations. The U.S.A. was founded on genocide, racism, slavery, and wholesale theft of land; in other words, it was evil from its very inception. Today, it is even more evil, an imperialist juggernaut threatening the entire world, the world's foremost rogue nation, utterly corrupt and rotten to the core.

Enjoy your turkey-- turkeys!
:p

oh for fuck's sake Red, go eat some pie. And go be grateful for something, maybe like the opportunity to some to a site like this and say whatever you like, unlike journalists in Nigeria, for example.

RED, with that much anger built up inside you, you're likely to choke on your own bile. Be careful now, ok? I'd really miss the laughs you provide.

thanksgiving is a day to give thanks for what you have: family, friends, the means to have an abundant feast, it is a holiday born in america but it is not a celebration of america itself.

We're not even the only ones who celebrate it. Canada has thanksgiving in october.

Hey, peachykeen!

Just between you and me, I do of course recognize there are good things about this country. But there's always plenty of people to point them out. I'm a social critic, and focus on what's wrong with this nation-- and there's plenty of that, too, especially now.

So, do you want some pie, or what?

the sign says "molodoj kommunist 10/89" (= young communist)*

Wonder if that's the front page from REDWAVE's year book.

*You know as in "Komsomol" (Kommunisticheskij Sojus Molodjozhij = Young Communists League)

I'm sure you know, of course, that the "Thanksgiving" wasn't of the Pilgrims to the Indians, but of the Pilgrims to God.

And "Indians" comes from Columbus' notes on the people he found when he landed. His Spanish was terrible, so he called them "una gente in Dios" — "a people in God."

I'll enjoy my turkey and my football, thank you very much. Do the Chiefs or Redskins play?

Cowboys and Redskins is always a treat on Thanksgiving.

I wonder if REDWAVE would like the Saints and Redskins better though.
