What a busy week! Chinese New Year on Sunday, Mardi Gras Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Valentine's Thursday and President's day this weekend! Yikes!

So here's the Mardi Gras thread folks! Please show us your...costumes. Yeah. Or better yet, pick out a costume for someone else (not just any costume, a Mardi Gras costume!) Use this thread for costumes and parade floats, recipes for gumbo...and while you're at it, throw some beads.

Stella, I've picked this costume out for you (seems very you to me)

Oh... I though that would be Stella's costume for President's day!

I didn't get the baby in the King Cake

Monday was Ugly Day, a day the party starts and everything gets ugly there on out to midnight on Fat Tuesday. It's a local thing where I grew up in La, but everyone gets on horseback and drinks visiting family and friends along the way for two days. It's shameless fun.

I didn't get my story finished in time, but I guess it wouldn't have posted today anyway if it did. Pfft on not getting the baby in the King Cake. Could use a bit of luck this year.

I know it better as the chicken run. Everyone goes out on horseback and brings back as many chickens as possible for the gumbo. ;)

Recipe, please. Assume that we're not going to be dealing with live chickens ;)

We did that too. Throw the chickens up in the air and catch as many as you can for gumbo!

What kind of freak'in gumbo has "runny" chickens and horses in it???

P.S. Remind me to NEVER eat at any of y'all houses!

I might put a lot of things in Gumbo but horse ain't one of them.

Everybody knows the horse goes in the dirty rice. ;)
