Yay for we Canadians. Just about the nicest people in the planet. ;)

It's our 138th birthday. So today is the day we go to the cottage or the beach or someone's backyard, grill meat and drink beer.

It's fun.

So, to Canada, my home and native land, I raise my beer and say, "How's it goin', eh?"

God bless Canada.

But stop sending us that cold Canadian air every winter.

Have a grand one, RG. Never met a Canadian I didn't like, and in fact I share my house with one - although at the moment, she's barking her head off at the puppy and not doing much for your international reputation. I've always admired the peace and goodwill your country brings to the world, and I hope that I'm not the only American who still remembers that your embassy sheltered our countrymen at great risk to themselves during the hostage crisis in Iran. I can still remember the maple leaf flags and "THANK YOU, CANADA" signs lining the streets of New Jersey when our people were safe and the news was broken.

Just so I'm not being unfair to the Americans

I'll drink to that, eh.

It's also the 100th birthday of the military base I live beside, so our celebrations are lasting all weekend... Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go finish up getting ready for work.....

Rob, you should come up, we have the best Fireworks in the Ottawa Valley :D (Ottawa's are slightly better though.. and TO's are probably too.. but still)

Have a good one, eh?

Then my work here is done.

Me: "It's Canada Day! Yay for you!"
Big Girl: "Canada woof. I have a Frisbee?"
Me: "Canada Day! Are you excited, girl?"
Big Girl: "Frisbee Day?"
Me: "Oh, my back. Not today, love."
Big Girl: "*sad look of tragic pathos* Not ... Frisbee Day? *standing grief-stricken, Frisbee in mouth* There's no Frisbee Day in the whole world?"

*long pause in which tears seem imminent*

Me: "Oh, all right. But if I have to be carted back into the house, you're going to be - "
Big Girl: "FRISBEE DAYYYYYYYYY!!!!! YAY YAY YAY YAY YAYYYYYY! *thunders down the back steps*"

I've done my part for the celebrations. Attached, one photo of a happy Canadian.

I, too, have never met a Canadian I didn't like... but there again, I've never met one.

Happy Canada Day.
