Happy Birthday to me

There is only a quarter of an hour left of my birthday by British Summer Time and I have enjoyed it.

I was able to sleep in this morning, missing the shower of rain, and I woke to bright sunshine through washed air and green leaves.

I had a quiet day painting garden furniture and watching the tourists rush around past my house while my wife was at work.

Two of my three daughters came to visit bearing gifts. The third daughter, the MD, shortly off to join her husband for a few days in Fort Lauderdale (why would anyone spend a few days there?), rang to wish me Happy Birthday and to enquire about my back.

Four of us had an Indian meal and I sat down later on to watch mindless TV while drinking a good wine.

It may have been quiet and not particularly exciting but I enjoyed the day.

Age has some benefits.
