Finally having a computer that doesn't take five and a half minutes to boot; that opens MS Word in under 30 seconds and can actually handle doing two (or more) things at once!

I'll be able to open a story and write down the ideas as they come to me instead of clinging desperately to them while I wait for the file to open.

Yeah, I splurged yesterday and got a P4 2.6. This is light years ahead of the old Celeron 766 that had motherboard issues and was running at about half that pace.

I'm even enjoying loading all my stuff on it.

Don't be over-excited. You get used to those things. In half a year from now you'll be cursing at the damn thing for not being fast enough....

I am jealous as hell! Got my new comp 2 years ago and use it so much that the keys are worn already, and dammit .... This one has never done me right to begin with. I need a new one!

I am jealous as hell! Got my new comp 2 years ago and use it so much that the keys are worn already, and dammit .... This one has never done me right to begin with. I need a new one!

As an aside? Computers are like lovers, I guess.

That's something I forgot - there's a new keyboard too. I don't have to hammer the crap outa the control key to get it to work! Now I just have to train my fingers where the delete and insert keys are on this one.

You're probably right about the like lovers thing - the other one was old and comfortable, this one is new and strangely exciting under the fingers... and it has different habits to the old one to get used to.
