Yesterday, President Obama was President of the United States of America, and there was
hope for equality among Americans, under the law.

Today, Evangelicals seek to remove anything that enables equality.

The rollback does not include something that did not exist, in their nostalgia for the good
olde days- technology.

The Evangelicals have proved to be hypocrites, and technology continues to reveal their

As a red-state woman, how long is it sustainable to listen to male relatives protest,
“But he’s great on the economy; just ignore the other stuff,” and wonder how it
got to the point where your own inherent worth was just other stuff to be ignored?

For all of the ways Trump has deepened divides or illuminated divides in this country —
on race, on religion, on what it means to be a patriot — gender is among the most profound.

The president’s problem is not that women haven’t been properly introduced to him by

We’ve talked quite a bit about worship leader and MAGA cultist Sean Feucht,
the Bethel Church-affiliated singer who has been hosting COVID super-spreader
concerts around the country (disguised as spiritual revivals).

His latest, in Nashville, brought together hundreds of maskless people.
The event is now being investigated by city health officials.

Feucht is now wrapping up the corona concerts, and the last one looks like it may be
the biggest one of them all. According to the Daily Beast, he’s expecting 15,000 people
to join him on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and city officials aren’t stopping
him, much to the distress of local residents.

The event is taking place this Saturday, and includes a tent where attendees can
be “baptized” by a group of “pastors,” after which the participants will doubtlessly
return to wherever they came from, putting everyone they encounter at risk along
the way.

The Daily Beast interviewed one D.C. resident who called the event “fucking stupid”
and an “attention-grab” for Feucht:

“This is insane,” D.C. resident Allison Lane told The Daily Beast on Tuesday.
“This is truly selfish behavior from people who claim to be devoted to the word
of God. I don’t get it. The National Park Service is being willfully ignorant.”

During the run-up to Donald Trump’s impeachment, Feucht and about 50 other “worship
leaders” met with Trump in the Oval Office for a “faith briefing.” At that time Feucht
posed for a picture in which he conspicuously posed touching Trump’s sleeve, in the
same manner Jesus is described as being touched in the Gospel of Luke.

Vice President Mike Pence recently appeared at one of Feucht’s “protests, and Feucht
has also appeared on Fox News.

No one should be fooled into believing that Feucht’s agenda is about “God.”

But the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans put it back in place.

In public health emergencies, the appeals court said, a state can restrict constitutional rights

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) attended a virtual House committee hearing Thursday
with at least three large firearms prominently displayed behind her as she and her
colleagues debated whether to ban lawmakers from bringing guns to committee
meetings.

The freshman lawmaker and gun-rights advocate, who owns a gun-themed restaurant
in Rifle, Colo., had two AR-15-style rifles arranged like an X on a shelf behind her
head and another large firearm lying across books on the shelf below.
There was also a handgun.

A 1967 law banned firearms anywhere in the Capitol building and grounds
but gave U.S. Capitol Police the power to make exceptions. Later that year,
Capitol Police decided that lawmakers could keep them in their personal
offices and transport unloaded firearms “within the Capitol Grounds.”

After the Jan. 6 siege on the Capitol, Capitol Police put up metal detectors
outside the House and Senate chambers. Ms. Boebert led a revolt against
them after setting off the detector and refusing to allow police to check

The man ultimately responsible for the delay, Christopher Miller, had been
a White House aide before Donald Trump installed him as acting defense
secretary in November, as the president began his attempt to overturn his
election defeat. Miller did Trump’s political bidding at another point during
his 10-week tenure, forcing the National Security Agency to install a Republican
political operative as chief counsel.

Curiously, the Pentagon claims Miller’s authorization came at 4:32 — 15 minutes
after Trump told his “very special” insurrectionists to “go home in peace.”

The Pentagon’s 199-minute delay looks worse in light of a Jan. 4 memo Miller issued -
saying that without his “personal authorization” the D.C. Guard couldn’t

“be issued weapons, ammunition, bayonets, batons or ballistic protection equipment
such as helmets and body armor."

(Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy) McCarthy even blocked the D.C. Guard in advance
from redeploying to the Capitol guardsmen assigned to help the D.C. police elsewhere
in Washington.

Without such restrictions, Walker, the D.C. Guard commander, could have dispatched
nearly 200 guardsmen soon after the Capitol Police mayday call. “That number could
have made a difference,” Walker testified.

During this moment of crisis — an attempted coup in the Capitol —
the defense secretary and the Army secretary were “not available,”
(Maj. Gen. William J. Walker, commander of the D.C. Guard)
