Hate to bust your bubble Laurel Honey, but who is Hamed and who is Bubble? ? Sorry, never heard
of either one of them. King of what country?
LMAO! Tawny, you're da bomb!!! That's "Bungu", and he beat Danny Romero on the undercard fight last October, so I was sure he'd take out Prince Naseem (no, he isn't royalty, but he IS on his way to being pound-for-pound the greatest boxer ever!). It was a short but amazing fight, in which Nas showed the finesse and skill that he's hidden under wraps during the last few lackluster bouts. He knocked Bungu down & out in the 4th - a stunning one-punch victory. Not as good as the Morales/Barrera fight the other week, but definitely a good bout.
I watched that fight in HBO. It was a good one. I am eager to see Prince to fight Eric Morales, I think it will be the ultimate test for the Prince. You mentioned that Bungo beats Danny Romero, I did not hear about it, thanks fot the information, I know Danny Romero is a great fighter and I like him too. Too bad he lost. I heared Trinidad beats David Reid, was it a knockout?
By the way, for what I know "Laurel" is a last name, aside from sex, you like boxing a lot that you have to insert that thing here in the in the erotic place, but I understand because you are the owner of this website anyway and you can do anything you wish. Everytime I see your name, the first thing that comes to my mind is that you are a male, but I read from some of your posting indicating you are a female. really, are you M of F ?
Look Buddy, if you didn't almost make me piss my panties with your post, I'd be pissed. What, girls can't dig boxing? I learned long ago (hey, anybody can wear a short skirt and go without a bra) that the best way to intellectually make a favorable first impression on a man is to talk sports and play golf. Of course, Laurel did once admit she was a seven foot black man. I forget what she said her real name was.
Look Buddy, did you ever wonder why there are so many beautiful women in the audience at fights in Las Vegas or Atlantic City? Now I happen to like those places and "Let's go to Vegas and see a fight" gets a better reaction than "Let's go to Vegas so I can gamble away all your money." I remember that Michael Grant vs. Andrew Galotta fight a couple months ago and the camera kept focusing on Donald Trump and Lennox Lewis sitting next to one another and talking incessantly. Wouldn't I just have died to be one of the gorgeous ladies who were on the other side of each of them, listening to whatever it was they were discussing. I bet it was green, my favorite color.
Trinidad kicked Reid's ass and stopped him in the later rounds. De La Hoya vs. Trinidad will be an awesome fight, unlike the first one, if they get it on again but Oscar has to get past Sugar Shane Mosely first. Hamed vs. Morales will be a war if it comes off. And yes, Laurel, what a one punch knockout of Bungu. And the dude had his hands up and the punch just slipped right through. Yeow! Hamed would have stopped him anyway within a few rounds the way he was dominating him. I don't know who I would pick in any of the above fights. Too close to call but that's what makes great hype and great fights.
Look Buddy, bone up on your boxing if you want to get along around this place.
But fuck, that guy is so arrogant, don't you think?
Do women find him sexy, Prince that is?
Yeah, he's an ass, but so was Ali in his prime... Funny how all the sports writers who dogged Ali - the ones who insisted on calling him Cassius, who called him a traitor - are now kissing his ass, calling him the greatest, etc. Hamed's the guy you love to hate.
But sexy? At 5'3"? Not to this woman...
By the way, for what I know "Laurel" is a last name, aside from sex, you like boxing a lot that you

I'm very female.
And there are currently discussions going on about favorite movies and favorite music in this forum. Why not boxing? This is, after all, the general board. It has nothing to do with me owning the site - you too can start a discussion in the General area about anything you wish.

Danny Romero kicks ass, and a match-up between him and Nas would be worth watching. Yeah, Trinidad beat Reid by TKO. He's a more experienced fighter than Reid, and Reid managed to cut him over his non-droopy eye.
De La Hoya vs. Trinidad will be an
awesome fight, unlike the first one, if they get it on again but Oscar has to get past Sugar Shane
Mosely first.
That'll be tough - Shane's no chump. But Oscar's no wimp either. I'd like to see De La Hoya vs. Mosely.
Hamed vs. Morales will be a war if it comes off. And yes, Laurel, what a one punch
knockout of Bungu. And the dude had his hands up and the punch just slipped right through. Yeow!
That was gnarly! The punch hit Bungu smack in the face, right between his gloves... Unbelievable knockout.
Hamed would have stopped him anyway within a few rounds the way he was dominating him. I
don't know who I would pick in any of the above fights. Too close to call but that's what makes

I was impressed with Hamed. The last few fights he hasn't shown much commitment, but this time he showed he was serious. He was listening to his corner (what was with that dual trainer weirdness?), he wasn't showboating... Attitude or no, the guy has the most amazing reflexes, ducking punches, moving back and forth, kinda reminds me of a rooster...
Of course, Laurel did once admit she was a seven foot black man. I forget what she said
her real name was.
I love boxing. I am a girl, last I checked oops I think I have to be disqualified I am a huge dyke and everyone knows sports made us butch ones the way we are!!
Laurel,Hamed as the greatest ever?? No way he is way to busy being pretty and checking himself in the mirrior. He will have a long way to go but I must say he has the cockiness of a great fighter now he needs to pull it all together for a 2-3 year run of solid opponents and no walk overs. Then we can start to talk greatness.
Have you ever seen Angel fight he is this bad assed tattooed Hispanic dude that is the shit.Fast Furious and very fun. Oh and he has enough brovado for 3 fighters.
Peace and one good right hook LMJ
No, you're definitely not disqualified! Boxing is a sport for everyone, straight & otherwise... I dig boxing, and I'm as straight as they come, and I'm as far from butch as you can get... Yeah, I agree - Hamed does have a history of ducking the tough fighters. But just watch the guy! What speed, what grace, what natural ability... He does need to stop preening and start training, but it looks like Emmanuel Stuart is helping him keep his nose to the grindstone. Only time will tell, of course, but I'm betting on Hamed. Attitude or no, he's got the skills to pay the bills...
I haven't seen Angel, but the guy who I dig tremendously and who is a complete wacko is Vinnie "The Paz" Pazienza. Have you seen him fight? That guy's a maniac!
If you watched Marco Antonio Barrera and Eric Morales, that was the real unforgetable
fight.
I saw that, & I think that was the best fight I've ever seen. I've never seen two fighters go after each other like that before! That was amazing...
I'm probably the only regular on this BB who was AT the Hamed-Bungu
fight; and also at the weigh in
I'm green with envy - I've never been to a boxing match, let alone a Prince fight...
(Laurel, it was Oct 98, not last Oct, that Bungu fought romero, btw)
Nuh uh... really? Sh*t, you know you're getting old when two years ago feels like last month... I agree - I think the Prince was just on top of his game, and I think Bungu was a bit intimidated by Nas's style.
Thanks for the info deborah, although you redicule me a little bit. Yes, I noticed many pretty ladies watch boxing, especially if Oscar dela Hoya is fighting. Maybe because he is the most good looking boxer you can see today.
I only have HBO, don't like to pay for the ppv. most of the time, they replay it on HBO anyway.
If you watched Marco Antonio Barrera and Eric Morales, that was the real unforgetable fight. Unlike the Dela Hoya and Trinidad fight, although I like dela Hoya, what he did was running in the later round because he thought he was winning the fight. That was a lesson for him.
Laurel, you said there is also a discussion about music. I don't know if you know the Lettermen, I watched their concert in Savannah,Ga. the other week, it was great, I like their three part harmony style of singing.
so I take a week off from you guys- big wrench! in order to crack on with some work ... and when I come back I find this! I'm probably the only regular on this BB who was AT the Hamed-Bungu fight; and also at the weigh in - so there's a mystery for you all - who spotted me on the TV talking to Riath as Naz went past? Aha! And why was I there?
Was Naz back to his best or even better, or was Bungu over-hyped... I think the former; but I think Romero or any other Super Bantam would struggle to go up to the 126 pound level and match Naz, especially as he's naturally about two or three divisions heavier ...
(Laurel, it was Oct 98, not last Oct, that Bungu fought romero, btw)
I am feeling the odd person out here. I don't really follow boxing. I haven't even heard of Bungu or the guy he fought. What weight class do they fight in? I only really pay attention to the heavywieghts. Now wrestling...that's entertainment. Yes I know it's staged but those men are incredible athletes for the feats that they can pull off and if anyone has watched wrestling lately you would need eye surgery not to notice that the men are super hot!!!!!!! Since Laurel has taken on the cause of promoting boxing on this site I am going to bring up wrestling every chance I get. I will make fans out of you all.
Eve you could never be the odd one out *smiles* with me around *cough*. As for boxing and wrestling: well wasn't there a joke involving two guys talking about a girl....can't really remember but the punch line (get the pun referrence to boxing) was "I have never seen her wrestle but I sure would like to see her box"
Look Buddy, you said Laurel was a guy and implied girls who like boxing are wierd. As if!!! What reaction did you expect, a blow job? And what about the guys around here who like to wear girl's panties? Go pick on them.
Golden, why didn't you tell us you would be there? The fight was on HBO like all day on Sunday. I would have taped it and tried to pick you out. OK, WHY were you there? And that stunt with the Magic Carpet, I bet you had something to do with that. Talking about wrestling, reminds me of that tragedy with Owen Hart, although unfortunately Hamed didn't slide right off the carpet.
Yeah, Laurel, Hamed doesn't do much for me either. But that dude who won the other fight, Mickey Ward I think his name is, he is cute as hell. And I loved the way he talked. I would jump him in a minute. I do think, however, Hamed is an awesome fighter and very entertaining. So is he going to strictly pay-per-view now? I mean, that seems like the ultimate objective.
BTW, the replay of the Trinidad/Reid fight was on Showtime Monday night. When I saw it live I was at a club and I wasn't paying the closest attention. I stand corrected in that Trinidad didn't stop him. He knocked him down three times in the eleventh round and Dr. Freddie and everybody were screaming they should stop the fight. I think Trinidad carried him in the last round. So in the interview Trinidad says he might move way up in weight and fight Roy Jones? What a joke!
Hey Laurel and Golden, do you think Roy Jones could beat most heavyweights? Golden, what about your boy Lennox?
Talking about
wrestling, reminds me of that tragedy with Owen Hart, although unfortunately Hamed
didn't slide right off the carpet.
LOL! I actually thought about that accident while Nas was flying across the arena. But I think they had him roped on to the thing - they seemd to be detaching him when he descended.
Hey Laurel and Golden, do you think Roy Jones could beat most heavyweights? Golden,
what about your boy Lennox?
Jones is good, but he suffers from that same sickness as the Prince, in that he picks mediocre opponents and doesn't seem to fully commit himself during the fight. Plus, he's developing a penchant for flashy entrances (i.e. his Radio City Music Hall appearance). I'm afraid he's more interested in being a celebrity than in actually boxing anymore, which is a shame. He's an awesome fighter - super quick for a heavyweight, powerful, good strategy.
Did you guys see that interview recently with Lennox Lewis and Michael Grant? Those boys are not small! They made the interviewer look like a little boy! I'm not big on heavyweights - they just stand in the middle head-to-head and punch - but Lennox is good and Grant is amazing (though young). That would be a fight worth watching.
Deborah wrote - Hamed is an awesome fighter and very entertaining. So is he going to strictly pay-per-view now? I mean, that seems like the ultimate objective
Hamed fights are already PPV in the UK on Sky satellite/cable. HBO has four "classes" of fight night of which the top is PPV - Trinidad/Morales for example. Hamed is in level 2: HBO paid Prince Promotions $10m for the show; Naz's fee was mnost of that. Down in the undercard which HBO didn't screen the guys were on maybe a grand - shit it's a hard life! My information is that HBO doen't see Hamed as likely to make division 1 and PPV status. Unless of course he gets in the ring with an established top draw on the HBO PPV roster. Word is that the point of the Bungu fight for Hamed was to end accusations that like Roy Jones he only fights saps; Naz may be willing go against other top fighters now. May know more in 2 weeks after a meeting with his management team.
Deborah you also wanted to know why I was there? I live a mile from the arena and was invited by a business associate - he's a promoter... real reason? we are launching a boxing web-site in July and it will be class! I'm expecting you and Laurel as founder members!
hey there's even a smilie which colour co-ordinates with me!
I am a big boxing fan, but I don't normally posts. About Prince Naseem Hamed, he really pisses me off with his arrogance. I personally liked Ali better cause in my personal view, Ali was funny as shit and his rhymes were cool to say while playing street basketball. I don't see anything special about Hamed, and I truly didn't see anything spectacular in this fight with Bungu. If you saw the replay of the knockout, Hamed did not even land solidly to Bungu's face, and it truly looked like he hit him with the thumb portion of the glove, could it have been rigged??? possibly. Anyhow, Hamed is a good boxer, but not as good as he's made himself out to be. As far as Roy Jones Jr., I don't think its his fault that he's demolished every opponent he's had. Roy Jones should be put in the class of Marvin Hagler and 'Hitman' Hearns. Roy Jones only loss came after he knocked the other guy out, and they disqualified him, which I thought was a bit harsh...they should have taken points away from him, but disqualify him???...Roy Jones would kill Trinidad, and I hope Trinidad does try to fight Roy Jones, I hate Trinidad. There's also talk about Hamed moving up to fight Mayweather...Mayweather, in my opinion would kill him.
I personally liked Ali better cause in my personal view,
Ali was funny as shit and his rhymes were cool to say while playing street basketball.
Yeah, you say that now, but back in Ali's prime he was just as arrogant as Hamed. The press hated him. Now that he's old and crippled and he's been shown to be in the right on so many of the issues he stood for, the press and everyone else is so quick to call him a hero and a legend, The Greatest. But if you read biographies of Ali and read old articles on him, you'll see that he was just as cocky and disliked.
I'm not saying Hamed's another Ali. I'm simply saying that time changes perspectives, that's all.
I
don't see anything special about Hamed, and I truly didn't see anything spectacular in
this fight with Bungu. If you saw the replay of the knockout, Hamed did not even land
solidly to Bungu's face, and it truly looked like he hit him with the thumb portion of the
glove, could it have been rigged??? possibly.
!!??? Are you sure you were watching the Hamed/Bungu fight? He clocked Bungu right between his gloves, in the center of his face! And c'mon, Bungu isn't gonna take a fall for Hamed - he hated the guy! He trained for a year and changed weight classes to take that fight. To say that Bungu would take the crooked way out, that's silly, that's career suicide.
Anyhow, Hamed is a good boxer, but not as
good as he's made himself out to be.
True. As Larry Merchant said, no one's as good as Nas thinks he is.
As far as Roy Jones Jr., I don't think its his fault
that he's demolished every opponent he's had.
How you can attack Hamed and defend Jones is beyond me. Both take on easy opponents, both want to be celebrities, both have been putting out boring fight after boring fight, never really committing themselves. Jones is an awesome fighter, but he's as starstruck as Hamed. The only difference between them (besides 150 lbs. and a foot in height, lol) is Hamed's mouth. Both have natural ability, both like to showboat, both are millionaires in a sport where there aren't many millionaires. Both take soft fights and don't fight often, and neither takes the chances necessary to make the fights interesting. But somehow everyone claims Jones is legendary but Hamed is second rate.
There are two reasons for this, I think.
1) Hamed's too lightweight of a fighter - for some reason, people take heavyweights more seriously, which is silly.
2) Hamed's trash-talking pisses people off, so they want to believe that he sucks. However, talent is talent, and people need to open their eyes and look past Nas's mouth. His style is unorthodox, and a guy without lightning reflexes and natural skill would be creamed if he tried to pull that off.
Plus, he hits HARD for his weight - everyone he's ever been up against verifies this. The shrimp's got power. The only thing he's lacking (which Jones lacks also) is desire. When you're making bank, it's hard to get motivated. But the difference between the two is that Hamed want to impress the press, while Jones already has them in his pocket. That last fight, Hamed showed that he can bear down and work. I think we're going to start seeing some spectacular stuff from him as he tries to win over the critics.
So that's that... Y'all go back and watch the fight again, but without the blinders on.
look Deborah, I didn't mean to imply that women are weird because they like boxing, sorry if I got misenterpreted.
Ryan, I don't think Trinidad is neither s
showy, cocky has loud mouth to be hated with.
About wrestling, Sorry , but I don't enjoy a bit of it, it is fake. It is very obvious that you are just being fooled right in your face.
Look Buddy, OK I forgive you. And I agree with you about wrestling. Great entertainment if you like soap operas. Hey, I watch wrestling occasionally and it's funny, but sorry Eve, those dudes are NOT sexy. I can't imagine having a conversation with any of them, other than about how good the steroids taste lately.
Hey Golden, yes you do need some boxing babes to make your project fly me thinks. What do you think about the lady boxes, 'er boxing? I know, you get the girls to strip for the weigh-in!
Ryan, duh! Bungu got totally clocked. If that was fake I wish I could fake orgasms that good. Roy Jones should be put in the same class as Hearns and Hagler? Excuse me? Those two dudes both lost to Sugar Ray Leonard, a big mouth welterweight. What lightheavyweight or cruiserweight could beat Roy Jones? James Toney? What heavyweight could beat Roy Jones for that matter? I think he would have a good chance against anybody.
What would give Hamed a chance against a bigger guy is the same thing that would give Roy Jones a chance against a bigger guy. Very unorthodox sytle where size doesn't matter that much AND punching power. Mayweather and Diego Corrales are both fighting number one contenders on HBO on Saturday. Should be good fights. Whoever wins those fights are likely Hamed opponents in the future.
For whom the bell tolls. Who thought it would toll for Tyson against Douglass or Liston against Clay/Ali? That's why I like it. Ya never know.
Hey Golden, promote this fight and you'll make mega bucks. Hamed against that big fat dude Butter Bean! Michael Grant against Lennox Lewis? ZZZZZZZZ
Deborah, I think you've been looking at the wrong people. Yes, I admit that some of them aren't nothing to write home about but the ones that are, hot damn!
Golden what is cack? I think you two ought to read my manifesto on why wrestling is so great, on another thread I created. You two just might become believers.
Eve, geez girl, what have you been smoking lately? I read what you said about wrestling. The only one who I think is even remotely sexy is that dude Kevin Nash, Big Sexy. And it's not his bod. He can at least put more than two words in a sentence.
Did you ever see the movies Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper have made? None of these guys could talk their way out of a paper bag, let alone fight their way out of one. I'll take the boxers (and I don't mean vs. briefs) anytime.
Hey, didn't Sylvester Stallone kick Hulk Hogan's ass in one of those Rocky movies? Now that's real.
