Halloween Support Thread

It probably wouldn't officially be called that. "Booby Prize" is just an expression meaning the entry that comes in last in a tournament or other competition.

Ah!! Thanks for explaining :)

After several days without any death threats... my mood has improved such that yesterday I actually spent two hours and nocked out another story.

Now I'm considering submitting it even.... Moonlight... last place will be MINE I tell ya!

Hell.. my first one ain't even in the running for either end... think it stabalized with 147 votes... scads of reads... and a score of 4.45. No threat to either end.

My mood was so bad I didn't read very many... only a few friends... now my job is cut out for me! I vow to read all AHer's and vote! With luck... I'll finish before the contest is over!

Woot!! Go for it but I tell ya...I'm not giving up on the last place that easy.....after all it won't be in the running for the other end. Might as well be last!

Have there been any new stories posted on the Contest list today? If so, I've missed them. Maybe the new stories my EL and SnP have intimadated any other would-be competitor. :)

I am not sure if there has been.... I am trying to figure that out right now because there are a bunch of new stories up but I don't see any different colored links on the contest page and I didn't write down who I had already read.... so I am in troubleeeeeee

and I don't know if the forum is a day behind for me or not....

I live in AZ.... which is Cali time currently

the last post that I made says that I read everything that was up at 1231am 'yesterday'..... well was yesterday the 12th in the forum or the 13th.... because stories dated 14th are up now.... so I am way lost

Apparently the dates of posting are based on EDT, which is three hours ahead of you and me. My clock says 9:49 on the 13th, and a story that gets posted now would officially be posted on the 14th. I believe that most of my stories, at least the five that I have posted this month, have been posted like that. I look at my submissions list and see that they were posted tha next day, which seems rather odd.

Yeah things get interesting when I try and vote and read.... because I have to be really careful that I only vote once on stories.... and with the time/date thing so weird for anyone that doesnt actually live in the time that the stories come out it can get hairy.

God I hate time.. i'm from Indiana and until next year... we never messed with daylight time. We spend (or spent) six months on eastern time and six months on central time (actually eastern standard all the time). People used to tell me that our time was broke.. but I submit to you.... WE NEVER HAD TO MESS WITH OUR DAMN CLOCKS. Therefore I suggest that WE were fine it was the rest of ya what was BROKE.

Now however our illustrious govenor managed to ramrod a bill through that puts us on daylight time from now on... it failed 5 times and kept bein put back as ammendments until the gov got what he wanted.

NOW the departemnt of transportation is holding hearings in each county (or so they say) to decide if each county should be eastern or central. Sounds even more fucked up than it was before to me.

What time has to do with this line I'm not sure.. but think I'll always be messed up.

Story submitted yesterday afternoon.. but as of now... no reads and still waitin for posting.

I VOW to read today!!!!!

Elizabeth, I've had similar (what the hell did I read) problems. That's why I try to always leave a PC. If the "history" indicators get cleared off, then I can at least manually check to see if I've read a story.

I HAVE A CONFESSION TO MAKE.

Laurel is my queen, and I worship at her feet. No, that's not the confession. Hell, it's not even new. I submitted my contest story with two grievous errors. The title, Till We Meet Again, somehow (my bad, I'm sure) came out, Till Me Meet Again. And for some reason, Word's find-and-replace did neither for a character's name THAT WAS THE FIRST WORD IN A PARAGRAPH. So instead of Jimmy, the name Willie stuck out like a sort thumb.

Fortunately, no one mentione the ME-for-WE snafu and only two folks brought the JIMMY/WILLIE foul-up to my attention. But as of this morning, Laurel has made made both boo-boo's all better.

Thanks, Laurel

Good to have help like that.
I've had days when I couldn't tell my Jimmy from my Willie.

jeeze rumpley.. if you'd wash yer feet once in a while....MAYBE you'd have a chance!
So that's been the problem. I always thought it had more to do with my good looks, personality, and charm, or lack of the same. Does anyone know where I can find a "Foot Washing" Baptist Church?

I don't know about a church, but what about in your bathroom?
