Halloween Support Thread

It's already time to think about Halloween submissions? Oh wow...better get going then.

Is this open to anyone?
Please forgive my ignorance, I have no idea how this contest stuff works; Halloween is my favorite holiday and I'm trying to get back to the writing desk on a regular basis. It might be fun to try and write to a deadline.

Yes its open to all Lit authors. Welcome to the AH. Good luck with your story.

welcome kimberleigh! Everyone can have a go at the contests and it's good to do so, you get alot of exposure and more reads in a competition than you usually would and generally more comments too. So it's great fun to join in on :)

I'd like to add: This can be an easy introduction to becoming a Lit author if you aren't already.

Entering the competition is simple - just post the story with the appropriate message in the Notes box - see sticky at the top of the AH but

WAIT FOR IT!

Not before the contest entry date. For this one that is 1st October.

I I had so much fun cackling wildly while I wrote last year's entry!
I can so imagine that. And you were in a tight, short black dress with a witches hat on, and the kids knew enough to stay out of the room while you wrote.

Thank you for all the welcomes!
:)

Now to work on the story, rather than spending time here...lol

When you become a regular, you will try to post to every thread while writing six stories at once and frequently checking your scores to see if the rating of your latest story has gone up or down 0.01 in the last hour.

We are all barking mad.

Good luck with the competition entry.

Og, Do you think a gay zombie story has anyplace among the pantheon of of greatness that is the last competition?

That depends on how badly it is written. True badness can rise from the depths and become a cult. Ordinary badness might have a chance at bottom place BUT it is usually achieved by a good story that just isn't popular.

I have an idea for a story. If I do end up submitting it for the contest, it will be under my alt name.

Where are you in the contest right now, crim?

Good Lord...it is that time of year again isn't it? Time flies whether you're having fun or not.

my idea is still only an idea but it shall be written.

A Christian halloween piece should be right down there for last place! :p

How about persuading your local Vicar to exorcise the Trick or Treaters?

She came. She posted. She went. How could I miss LP69? :rose:

I hope that the silence on this thread shows that we are all busy writing.

If not, why not?

well, I wrote three word pages lat night, but I am not much likeing the first person. I think I may change perspectives.
Is it okay literary wise to switch perspective in different chapters?

Is the first contest the hardest?

I'm now on the rails about if my entry is halloween enough.

So I'm thinking of finishing it AND getting a second one done and making my choice then. I really feel like I'm over analizing it though.

-Alex

So yes I'm writing ... just maybe in circles.

You can enter both if you want to. I don't know if you can win two prizes or not but you can enter as many stories as you want.

Dar, give it a go, see if the persepctive change looks ok, if not, you might have to change the perspective of the bit you've already written, but changing perspective can be done, but i think it's difficult to pull it off well.

Og -oooh more plot *grins*, I'm still in the planning stages, I'm going to enjoy this challenge.

Alex -yup box is right, you can write and submit as many stories as you like, so plunge both of them in ;)

Okay vel-crow, I may submit that one....I tweaked it a little. Have another one in the works....love Halloween.
