Halloween Contest Support Thread

The Halloween Contest is the next themed contest. See the “Welcome Authors! Please Read” Sticky at top of the Author's Hangout for all themed contests.

Extract from the sticky:

Halloween
themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.
starts: October 1
closes: October 22

You may think I am starting this thread far too early but if we don’t plan, October 1 will be here with no stories started.

As before, this thread is to encourage authors to write and enter, to support them when the muses fly away, to sympathise when trolls attack, and to shamelessly beg for votes.

For anyone who hasn't entered a themed Literotica contest before:

The advantages are that once you enter, your entry and all your writing gets more attention, votes, feedback and PCs than it would otherwise get. You also get support from members of the Author's Hangout.

The disadvantages are that you will also attract unwelcome attention from trolls and unenlightened critics. The sweeps of duplicated and illegal votes can cause heartbreak. It can be a bumpy ride.

If you really want your writing to improve, critics will be a factor. Entering a themed Literotica contest is one of the easier ways to get noticed.

If in doubt, go for it. You have nothing to lose but your virginity, and if you haven't lost it yet, what are you doing here?

How far can I take a story before getting in trouble with the censor Nazis here?

It is just a story after all. Still, I know there are some topics that may be banned here, such as murder and rape?

Always been curious on that myself. I think it's less the topic and more the treatment.

I don't think murder and rape are banned. I think stories which are written with the intent of trying to get people off on graphic descriptions of murder and rape are banned.

Someone else will probably know better though.

It is possible to do murder and rape stories, as long as neither is the focus of the story, and as long as it is not to incredibly graphic unless it is an erotic horror story. Eroptic horror tends to get a little more freedom in what can be done.

That said though, make sure there is more than just Jimmy spots susan down the hall, follows her to her room stops her from shutting her door rips her clothes off fucks her until he cums then shoots her full of holes. There has to be something to make the murder and/or rape be only part of the story, not the story.
