halloween contest help

hi guys, i'm pretty new to all of this. I submitted my first gay male story the other day and i'm just waiting on it to be posted. Quick question: I have a good story idea for the halloween contest but it links into my story series. (albeit a few years after the events of the series). Would this be accepted into the contest or rejected?

As long as it is a stand-alone story and not a chapter of a larger work and it fits the contest theme I am pretty sure sequels using previous characters are ok. I have seen a few in this contest.
