“Keep in mind, I am running against him for a reason. I'm running against him, because I don't think… he's the right person at the right time. I don't think he should be president,” Haley said on ABC News.

I think you will see a lot more of this as November grows closer. That is fewer and fewer republicans will support Trump if he gets the nomination.

If miracles upon miracles happen and Haley gets the nomination will Trump support her?

No, he’ll say the primaries were rigged, or its some kind of democrat conspiracy, he will never admit he lost because he isn’t popular. He will not show the least bit of leadership and say, my party has spoken and I’ll do everything in my power to help Nikki win in November..

Didn't all Republican candidates commit to supporting the winner, including her?

She already said she would.

When asked during the first debate if she'd support him as the nominee even if he were convicted, she said yes.

She may have changed her mind.. We will have to wait and see. What I think she's doing is sitting herself up for a 2028 run.. There is no chance she'll get the nomination this year..

She is directly going after Trump now, obviously putting all of her eggs in the basket of "if he has to drop out, I'm the only one still standing." It's not a bad stance. Unless someone asks her to say again whether she would vote for the Trump she now is saying would be a disaster, I don't think she'll bring it up herself. She's supported most of the policies of his administration, though. She was in his administration.

That's part of it, he could drop out, he could keel over..

But I think she is also playing the long game, gearing up for 2028. Trump's 2016-2021 tenure was a disaster, 9.4 million businesses being closed – many permanently, 26.8% unemployment, mismanagement of the number one crisis in his administration, subverting the 2020 election, politicizing the Justice Department, obstructing the Mueller investigation, loyalty oaths and personalizing government, there were firings, forced resignations and premature departures, which ramped up in Trump’s final year, he crossed a line by clearly retaliating against officials for personal reasons without good cause. I can go on and on..

I see no reason why a second term of Trump would be any better.. If Trump is elected when Trump fails again Haley can say this is exactly why I never supported him.. IF Trump has a stellar second term people will largely forget what she said in 2024. It's risky but she has nothing to lose..

From my point of view as a non American, Haley is greatly preferable because she would be almost certain to run traditional foreign/security policies. However, Australians and other allies regard Trump as a greater danger to US allies than to US enemies, because as a pawn of Putin he is completely unreliable and capricious. In US domestic policy Haley seems to march in lockstep with the nutjob Right wing.

Vladmir Putin has chosen Tulsi Gabbard to be Trump's running mate. Gabbard is Russia's second greatest compromised asset, behind only Trump himself.

If Trump gets elected and fucks up, gets impeached and/or imprisoned, or "falls out of a window" (*wink *nudge) Gabbard is poised to assume the reigns of power and Putin's control of the Oval Office continues uninterrupted.

Only because Trump is still there, I think. Minus him, I think she'd move closer to the center. Not close enough for me, but she wouldn't destroy the Union.

She is the only GOP candidate who would have standing and provide an alternative to chaos if Trump keels over and dies this summer.

So, it makes sense for her to stay in the race. It also requires some courage, which is almost totally absent in the Republican Party.

time will tell.

i don't like haley, but see her as a preferable alternative to the insanity that is brand trump.

I’m going to hold my nose and vote for Haley in the primary on Tuesday.
crazy, isn't it, that what can make one candidate more plausible to vote for than the other is simply a lack of the insanity trump brings
