hair removal question

Silly question, silly problem, but it worries me anyway. I have a rather fuzzy upper lip. I want to get rid of the hair there, but I am worried about it coming back darker and thicker. Right now it is just fuzzy and not very dark. Should I get rid of it or use something like a bleaching product? What about waxing it? I am worried that if I wax it, it will come back all prickly and ugly. It's not bad but I am self conscious about ti. What should I do?

Lazer...........................Pretty sure everything else will make it grow back thicker.

wax it!

Seriously, it will not come back prickly. If you shave or use those chemical things it will. If you wax it will come back the same or lighter than it is now.

Go to a professional the first few times if you are nervous. The lazer thing is the best tho if you have the money.

Good luck

Definitely do not shave it. Waxing has worked wonders on my eyebrows and I would recommend it to anyone. And, if you bleach it, that will keep it from being visible, but depending on your skin/hair type, it may be a frequent thing to do.

Something new and different...

I know y'all are going to think I'm crazy, but... the last time I went for a glycolic acid peel, my aesthetician told me the "real" secret to her smooth complexion: She shaves her face. Not just the upper lip, mind you - her entire face! When I expressed my worries that it would grow in thicker or dark, she explained that it doesn't as long as you use a single blade razor on completely clean, dry skin, no more than once a week. 2 months and 4 'shaves' later... I LOVE my skin! Makeup goes on so smooth, and my complexion looks flawless for the first time in ages. It works for me! Although I have fair skin and blond hair, my aesthetician has dark hair, and I could not see any "5 o'clock shadow" on her face at all. I highly recommend this, but you may want to check with a dermatologist or aesthetician to make certain for your own complexion.

Now I just wish I had known this years ago before using those double-blade razors on my legs and bikini line...

DO NOT SHAVE your facial hair. I know Eve said her aesthetician suggested this, but I would NOT under any circumstances shave my facial hair. It will grow back like a man's facial hair.

I have been waxing the hair on my legs now for 3 years. When I started, the hair was course and very dark. Now, the hair is very light and soft. I went last month to have my legs professionaly done and asked the lady why this was happening. She said eventually the hair wouldn't grow back at all on the parts of the body that are waxed. I had noticed that even now, areas of my leg hair don't grow back hardly at all.

Also - remember all those little old ladies who have to pencil in their eyebrows cause the plucked them so much? This will happen to your facial hair.

Take care!

Pluck them? No thanks! That's the same as telling a guy to pluck his beard out, hair by hair. Why don't you try it and let me know how it feels, okay? :p

Seriously. I'm leaning to going to a professional for waxing, but I'm still worried about when it grows back. What happens when I stop waxing it?

my aunt used to have hers bleached for years at a beauty saloon. she tried it once at home with some stuff from the supermarket - well, umm.... let me put it that way: like a home-perm gone wrong. she had them lasered away 2 years ago now and she tells everyone who cares to listen that it was worth every penny.:D

*Tweazers*

Hmm i still say wax.. sum good ideas tho......
but i will stick w/ what im used too....

The hair that grows back after you wax it is lighter and finer or the same as it was before. It wont get darker. I have been doing this for 10 years, the hair is almost gone now.

SHAVE your face. I've been shaving my face for several years. Facial hair will not come back courser than it was before you shaved. The same is true for any hair that you remove, however you remove it. Waxing is taking the hair out at the root which eventually destroys the root. That is why it eventually stops growing.

I read an article several years ago that said the reason men's faces age so well is because they exfoliate (shave) everyday. I also worked with a lady who shaved her face every day so I decided to give it a try. I love the feel and look of my facial skin. Sometimes I shave several times a week and sometimes I let it go for several weeks and no one has any clue that I shave. I told my daughter and though she was suprised she said she would never have guess. My facial hair is light but I have dark brown hair.

Wax it. Before you wax, use rubbing alcohol to clean it good, and then when it is dry, put some baby powder on it with a cotton ball BEFORE you apply wax. This will help your skin A LOT. You don't want to rip or irritate it! It will be a little red for an hour or so, but your hair will NOT grow back thicker or darker. Otherwise, permanent hair removal works in an expensive way.:)
