Haiku

Each time they whine here,
The assholes go deeper still.
Not in a good way.

Posts emerge, strident.
Some enjoy being assholes.
I'll never get it.

Treacherous walking:
Old snow ices the sidewalk.
The wind blows it slick.

So, the doctor says,
"I have some bad news for you.
It looks like cancer."

So, I asked, "How bad?"
He replies, "I'd write a will."
"Thanks, I think," I said.

Oh, how I wish I
Could make amends, and comfort
The people I've hurt.

Yesterday is gone
Tomorrow isn't promised
So today is it.

Make the most of it
And tell your loved ones that
They are in your thoughts.

White nights and bad dreams
Wondering what could have been
Fearing what will be.

Oh, Virginia!
Why did you have to leave me?
I miss you so much!

I loved you so much,
But we were not meant to be.
At least in this world.

Maybe in Heaven?
Oh, I really hope that's so
I will wait for you.

I rage against the
Coming of the Night but it
Doesn't change a thing ...

The Night is coming
For me but resisting it
makes acceptance hard.

My time here must end
As all things finally do.
The big sleep awaits.
