Haeun stood outside the gates of the large mansion, waiting nervously. About three months ago, the 35 year old housewife and her husband had moved from South Korea to the U.S in order to forge a better life for their five year old son. However, with the current recession in America, their little Korean provision store was struggling to make ends meet and was in danger of closing down. With little recourse left, she had decided to take a job as a maid with a wealthy African American family. Her husband was initially uncomfortable with the idea of her working as a live-in maid with a black family but he had little choice in the matter since their shop was in danger of closing. If that were to happen, they would be in serious trouble ,especially since they were techcially illegal immigrants who had overstayed their visa. So here she was now, waiting for her new employer to open the gate and greet her. ..
