gypsy camp

mysteria

I smiled feeling lost as I had often felt since Roberto's death. I twisted my hands and murmured, "About as well as can be expected considering circumstances." my hand slide down over ummy protectively. "it's only been a day and already i'm attached to him/her, don't worry I have no intention of losing this child. I will sacrifice my happiness for theirs if I need to." Sadness shadows my eyes as i feign a smile

"you wished to speak with me?" feel too many eyes upon me, Thomas's, and oddly enough Christine and Hoytas. I glanced around spotting Martine with group of men tending to horses.

I knew as she spoke that my life was at a critical point where my choices would determine how rest of my life went. I had already made several choices, and looking back I regretted none. Except for letting Thomas leave me that morning.

Terra

"you wished to speak with me?"

"Only to know you are doing ok." I say to her. "Now is not a good time for a good heart to heart. I am only here to be supportive to you in any way possible."

I was all too aware of the dynamics going on around us. Too many fronts. Too many feelings. Mysteria needed some time away from it all, and allow herself the opportunity to get in touch with her feelings.

Christine Re: Hoytus

Hoytus watched as Terra approached Mysteria, and noticed Christine watching as well. He crossed the ground between them, and addressed her.

"Hey, how are you doing?" he asked tentatively. He glanced back toward Terra, then back at Christine. "I know it seems Terra is a bit cold, but she really does have a warm heart. She's just very protective to those she loves. She thinks of Mysteria as her own daughter. Give her some time, and she'll warm up to you. It's just you joined us at a critical time. Terra's been so concerned for Mysteria since her husband's death. Mysteria took his death very hard."

Looking up in surprise as Hoytus approached, Christine greeted him tentativly.

"Hello Hoytus, I'm doing alright, thanks for asking"

As he spoke, Christine waved to the ground near her, indicating for him to sit. Listening to him she saw herself from his point of view and nodded to herself as he confirmed what she suspected.

"I understand what you are saying Hoytus, and I guess if I were in her position I would react much the same." she replied. Briefly outlining her reasoning in regards to her encounter with Thomas in the cave she finished with, she decided thaat she could ask of Hoytus the question she was going to ask Mysteria.

"Hoytus, I must ask you a question in all seriousness. I don't know what to do. Should I stay with the Gypsy Camp or should I get on my horse and go the other way? I don't feel that I am very welcome here but I need refuge for a few more months until I am able to return home and claim my inheritance.
If I stay, there is no guarantee that the brigands will not return and just by being here I put the whole camp at risk."
I continued, "If I go, I am definatly in danger, not only by the brigands, but by anyone else I meet on my way. I have a few skills, but I would not be able to survive in the forest alone, and if I got ill or hurt I would surely die.
If I am allowed to stay I am willing to do anything to help, cleaning, cooking, caring for the horses - anything. I am torn, I would like to ask Terra to do a reading for me, but I don't know how to approach her.
Hoytus, what should I do?"

mysteria

i smiled, terra was just be comforting. i told her i was doing fine considering everything. that i would make it I always had and always would. I slipped back to horse and wondered if it would be too much to ask martine to go a day out of our way so i could sort things out, i didn't want to be alone, yet i didn't want to be around so many people. i'd ask him tonight after dinner

Hoytus

Hoytus, what should I do?"

With genuine compassion for her plight, Hoytus took her hands in his. Gazing deep into her eyes, he spoke quietly.

"I shall speak to her on your behalf. As to your immediate future, you are welcome to stay with us. We are accustomed to taking in strays and wanderers. As far as you putting us in danger, please do not worry. Though we are a peace loving group, we are not without battling skills."

Terra

It was obvious that Mysteria needed some time. This was as the I-Ching had advised, and that helped to ease my mind. I watched as she sauntered off, seeking solitude. Sighing I slowly returned to my own mare to care for her while we were resting.

After brushing her down, I moved to Hoytus' stallion, and began the same process. Glad to have some time alone in thought, I wondered briefly where he'd gotten off to.

Seeing that Terra had left Mysteria, I returned to the area where my trailer and horses stood. There was a sadness about Mysteria as I checked the hooves and tack of the horses. "Are we about ready to leave again?" I asked, thinking Terra had let her know if all were ready. Lunch was over and the heat was less intense. She only nodded to the group as I tosses a few things back into the trailer. I tied the horse we had been riding to the back of the trailer and climbed aboard the wagon seat. Holding out my hand, I helped her onto the seat beside me, hoping she might sleep a little.

Thomas:

Hefting a saddle onto one of the gypsy horses backs Thomas looked past the horse and saw Terra. He finished up with his job here and set to walking over to her. He stood five feet from her and suddenly lost the nerve to speak as he had intended. His throat went dry from nervousness as he couldn't even bring himself to rush away. He was locked in place... Right where he was...

mysteria

I move up on bench next to Martine as we head out for afternoon. I snuggle up next to him and get some respite from midday heat, as day progresses things slow down and i snuggle up to Martine and murmur that I want to talk to him about something before we sleep tonight. I occasionally take drinks of water and try and relax sorting out my thoughts.

I sensed someone behind me, and turned suddenly to face Thomas. Poor boy was frozen on the spot. Crossing the few feet between us, I cleared my voice and stated:

"What is it boy? Come, let's sit. Ye can poor out thou soul to me, if ye need." I said in as comforting a voice as I could muster.

Thomas:

Thomas lowered his head, he still couldn't look Terra in the eyes. "I... I need to know if I have a place with... Ria... Can your cards help me? Help me know what to do?" Thomas choked out, his voice strained with emotion.

"If ye wish to consult them, we shall see what they say. Be wary, though, they sometimes tell ye thing ye do not want to face." She answered, taking her cards out from her deep pockets. Sitting, she shuffled the well worn pack, and spread them, offering them to him.

"Pick one."

Thomas:

Doing as Terra indicated, Thomas drew. He felt his heart begin to race. His palms started to sweat. He hoped with all his heart that what would be revealed would guide him well.

Third card: The Hermit

"This placement is your motivation or reason to ask the question. It is usually unknown. You picked the Hermit. He represents Seclusion, wisdom, discernment, and self-control. Perhapse these are things ye seek. Another." She sez as she shoves the cards toward him.

Fourth card: Ten of Cups

Fifth: The Hanged Man

"Your potential and chances can overcome obstacles through devotion, peace of mind. You may have to sacrifice, but if your will is strong enough, you may succeed. Next."

Sixth: Three of Swords

Tenth card: Queen of Cups

"The end result will bring on kindness, grace and beauty. You will become the nobile tolerant person you are meant to be. You will obtain the gift of vision."

Terra knew there was great things for the boy. The cards indicated that. She didn't need the cards to already know this.

As to whether he would be with Mysteria? Only with a lot of perservence on his part. And not without a lot of grief. She felt for the boy. But there was nothing more she could do. She laid her hands upon his.

"Go now, and ponder on this Wisdom. You have much to learn, my boy." She simply states.

Thomas:

With a nod and a slightly meloncholy smile Thomas stood. "Thank you Terra..." He said, he set his jaw with purpose as he turned to leave. He stopped in his tracks before reaching for the door. "...Thank you." He repeated with a backward glance. He left Terra's vardo and went to the first free man. "Excuse me..." Realising he had not asked this fellow his name before Thomas felt suddenly self concious under the mans turned eyes. "I...I would ask that someone... Anyone of you... Teach me swordplay? I ask because I do not intend to ever be put in a situation like the other night..."

Mysteria slumped beside me on the wagon seat. She mentioned that it was important to speak with me tonight before we all retired. "Tonight." I told her as she drifted in and out. There was much weighing on her mind. I knew she was torn about the outcome of her relationship with Thomas, but knew not how I might fit in. As Romani, I would take it as it came. I had no illusions about anything that happened now or in the future. Only the present existed. I hummed a familiar little tune as we moved through beautiful forests and along smooth streams. The birds sang along with the squeak of the wooden wheels along the path. The sun dappled the ground through the tree leaves, shadows hiding and playing along the backs of the horses and vardos. It was cooler among the trees. Before long, we would find a level area, near the sream for the night's camp.

mysteria

We settle down for night and I enter the wagon and neaten up the sheets, wearing only my white shift and slippers, my long dark hair tumbling over shoulders as I comb it waiting for Martine to enter with a late night snack for me. I sat there combing hair, composing my thoughts.

I heard him enter with a soft smile and smiled back placing brush down.

"You wanted to tell me something?" he asked his eyes roaming over my body.

"I," pausing trying to decide, "was wondering if you'd like to..." i trail off fingers twisting in my lap, my mind wavers between two options. "I mean," i pause again then decide to just come out and say it, "I'm pregnant, and feel lost, since Thomas..." I trail off this is more difficult to say than I thought, "I need to feel desired," i whisper softly sliding one strap off my shoulder, "I was hoping we could go off on our own tomorrow, a break from all this. I don't want to be alone." I whisper softly holding breath waiting for his response.

"You're welcome, my boy, your welcome." Terra smiled after him as he left. He walked with more confidence and determination. Perhaps it wasn't meant for the two to couple after all. She would have to consult the I-Ching again, but not now. Perhaps later.

She lay down, still wondering where Hoytus had gotten off to, and wondering why we weren't moving on. Soon she fell into a deep slumber.

OOC: Ok, um, I don't think Elizabeth fits in the story any more, but if any one has any ideas, or maybe I could be a different charachter? Just willing to contribute here if I can find a place that doesn't inturupt the wonderful story line you've all got going here.

After we made camp that evening we had supper and a bit of music, as usual. Mysteria was a little more reserved and I knew there was something she wished to tell me. She had been among the first to drift away from the party. I excused myself also, bowing to my musical compatriots and followed her to the trailer. Before I had the chance to go inside she stopped me and asked for a snack. I handed my guitar to her and searched out the cooking wagon for some bread and honey and a pitcher of cold water from the stream. When I returned she was combing out her long, dark tresses. The hair stood in dramatic contrast against her white gown. Turning, she smiled at me and I sat the food on the shelf. "You wanted to tell me something?" I asked her. I couldn't help but notice her soft curves under the cotton. "I was wondering if you'd like..." She faltered, gathering herself. Her voice grew softer, almost to a whisper and she dropped her head, "I'm pregnant and feel lost, since Thomas..." She looked back up to me. "I need to feel desired." Her hand stole to the strap of her gown and pulled off her shoulder. "Iwas hoping to go off on our own tomorrow, a break from all this. I don't want to be alone."
I knelt before her, taking in the information and taking her hand. "Myst, you'll never be alone, as long as you choose not to be alone." I fingered the strap hanging at her shoulder. "And you will always be desired, as long as you allow me the pleasure of your company." I kissed her knees and lay my head in her lap. My hands went to the small of her back and caressed her sides and around to her tummy.

OOC: Actually, we are not far from town yet. Such a large group moves rather slowly, with all the belongings we carry with us. A single horse could easily catch up. You could either have Elizabeth run off and seek us out, or you could be a gypsy that is already in the band....Terra can have a vision and wait for you too.....you could be the daughter of a couple, or a single female with any kind of background you want. You could even pick an imaginary male as a partner, as I have done. There are many people here that we haven't named. It's up to you who you would like to be. We're easy..... did I say that? ;)

OOC: Hey goddess_euphoria, I could use another character to teach Thomas the use of a blade. T'would be an interesting twist if the gypsy he asked directed him to another female gypsy... ;) It would be a great help to me...

mysteria

I felt better already his soft words and gentle touch reminded me of a time long past. It was gentle and warm, far different from Thomas's energetic passion. It was far more sensual as his fingers slowly slide my shift up my legs.

OOC: Xena the warrior gypsy! ~L~ (I'll think of a better name, I promise!) How does Natasha sound? Grew up with 4 brothers, so she's all rough and tumble. Learned sward play from her father, and to be noticed over her brothers, practiced and learned until she was the best. Been a gypsy her whole life, one brother dead, two moved on to other troupes, and one still around, father dead, mother... Hey, Moon, want a kid (uh, five in fact) :) (looking back over things) Does that work out all right? Let me know ok?

still OOC: Does this mean I'm going to have to do some research on sword play?

OOC: LOL.....ok! ... You're my daughter I never had! Always wanted a daughter! That will give room for a young man if we get more players that want to play...;)
