Don't thay have "people" who are supposed to teach him this shit?

It's fucking embarassing!

He salutes like the coke head drunk he is. Wimpy.

Daddy, daddy, daddy.....

7.62 to the brain pan?

Maybe.

As a Marine at an airbase that dealt with other branches of the service, some branches give great salute, but air-wingers in general give poor salute compared to a good old ground-pounder or someone whose spent a lot of time shipboard.

An Air Wing NG to boot! Asshole used daddy's name and bought his way into the guard to stay out of the war. Saw a lot of that back then. Anybody say's it didn't happen either is absolutely stupid or has their head a longggg way up their ass!

What's Good for the Goose...

So I've been wondering: When do we start referring to Bush as a draft-dodging drunk? Is it after the first month, the First 100 Days, when? Seems his bona fides aren't much different from Clinton's in that regard and I seem to recall "draft-dodging potsmoker" as being his middle name in some quarters.

As someone who served with ANG members in Vietnam, I can positively assert that joining the Air National Guard was NOT just a way to avoid the war.

Just how petty is it to pick on the president's saluting technique as a way to disparage his whole administration? I don't recal that any of the presidents have been particularly sharp saluters. Not even Eisenhower, who was a general and career soldier, saluted sharply when he was president.

January 20 to February 13,
That makes, 30 days has September, April, June and November, 11 + 13, so your answer is 24 days before we begin refering to him as a limp-wristed draft-dodging drunk. Does that negate the fact that he now represents us, the U.S., the greatest nation on the face of the earth? It's so nice to know that we have never, ever had a good president, and it looks like we will never have one unless Mr. Bush conceeds when the FINAL FLORIDA VOTE IS FINALLY IN AND AL GORE WINS THE PRESIDENCY! Then, by gawd, we'll finally have what this county has need for so long. A man of steely character, a fire-hardened Vietnam vet, who has never used his family connections to be a success, with a perfect, firm handshake and a salute that would make a Ranger blush with pride and patriotism! God Bless Al Gore! Down with monkey DUBYA!

Happy Valentine's Day Eve.

Since I am not an expert such as yourself, I humbly remove myself from the conversation and will return to my needlepoint.

They keep going, and going, and going. Oh, you won't hear this in the mainstream, liberal biased, media, but Palm County's newspaper counted, then recounted the votes. Bush won again, and again.

Hurts, doesn't it?

]Andra I don't know when you joined but you should really check your facts-senior, junior or watever member of the board.
Try checking the date underneath her name on every post if you want to know when she joined. It says December, 2000.

I thought Andra's response was to "average american" not to Sparky. Read it from that point of view and see if you perhaps didn't jump to a wrong conclusion in your haste to bring up your perpetual theme of Dems not being idiots.

Could be that......

.... he fills kinda' silly saluting when not in uniform. I know I would.

Or it could be that hes back on the sauce and is worried that it will look like a bad sobriety test. lol

Cheyenne it wasn't so much the reacton to Dems being insulted-but the constant stream of misinformation coming from that corner. As I said before-I tend to vote Dem, but I'm an independant-for various reasons. I could care less what she calls me or for the most part-anyone else-but her incessant Dem bashing has gotten REALLY old.
So, it doesn't matter at all that the post that she was responding to by "average american" asked the question that she answered? And that she probably perceived average american's question as being republican bashing, so she was defending our Pres.? Check again, she didn't start the bashing, just stood up to it. As you would.

Hey WH....

Both Ronnie and GWB's father knew how to salute. Take a look at the film.

Why?

They served with pride.

Avenger pilot -- something to be proud of.

Actor in propaganda and training films -- also something to be proud of?

They may have known how, but seldom bothered to be parade ground sharp as president.

Kennedy knew how to salute because he served with pride also, but I don't recall him even returning salutes except on formal military occasions.

As long as the president isn't flipping the bird in place of a salute, I don't care about how he salutes. What I want from a president for the military, is a budget that can keep the equipment repaired and up to date, and the people paid well enough to stay in.

How well any civilian salutes is a total non-issue.

I'm with ya on the budget....

But US Presidents aren't civilians - they are the sworn-in Commander and Cheif.

About as far from a civilian as you could get - and they should be trained, to at least "mimic properly" for sake of respect to the men they command and any possible political ramifications of doing so.

It's the least the fuck can do. It's easy too. Like the Pope speaking in a native dialect. It's easy shit. And smart too.

Makes you wonder how such simple things are overlooked. Makes you wonder if they're smart - or not.

Presidents are by law and constituional definition, civilians -- The embodiment of civilian control over the military.

A president's ability (or lack thereof) to salute has absolutely no bearing on his position as commander in chief. It is no more an insult to the military than a child marching alongside a parade unit would be.

If you must find some fault with the president, look for something meaningful -- Drill and Ceremonies isn't meaningful despite what the Marines may have beaten into your head in boot camp.

I couldn't care who the President is, or was, or will be,,,

but a sloppy salute is like a limp handshake, why bother?

If GW or any President is going to salute any member of the military, at least do it with a style approaching respect,,, otherwise, simply nod to acknowledge the salute offered and move on.

WH you pip.....

I think all the offered/forwarded candidates were/are buffoons. I think our entire system "has become" (it didn't start that way) a ancient travesty that is mocked globally while our arrogance blinds us to that fact. It's simply not smart - and of the infinite viable alternatives, there are many smarter and more efficient.

However - it's obviously difficult to implement that type of change, a change of that sweeping magnitude - but that fact does not decrease my desire to correct such an inferior system.

Why? Most of all because I am a true patriotic American, proud of his country and I hate to see it mocked for any reason at all. And secondly because I hate "not striving for perfection" and "resting on ones laurels."

And..... if we are stuck with this shit. Which appears to be the case. And stuck with this buffoon. You would just maybe think the fucking guy could learn how to salute in a way - that would not appear overly casual to some - and disrespectful to others.

And as for the Marines "beating shit into me" - again - check the boards - yes I do love the US Marines - but I vacillated between being a model Marine and doing brig time. I just couldn't stand "that system" either. Something's very wrong when you have to take orders from an alcoholic, red-neck, bigoted, shell-shocked, asshole with an IQ of about a hundred.

And - I simply "told them" it was wrong.

I only play games "when I" decide to play. And the games of US politics as in controls the US system of government and the game of drunken, demented soldier boy's fucking with lessors for fun - are not games in which I relish play.

Not by their rules anyway.

Wow Sparky, just wow.....

:p

Sorry I fucked up my cut and paste...

Here's the lead-in to the above....

Of course I know that "a salute" has no relevance to his power. But it does have relevance to public perception. I just think that learning how to do it would be an astute and easy base to cover. It would show a lot of positive things. And I think the guy who just barely won the election - needs to see those things - more than anybody else. Why not I would ask? How come nobody suggested that to him?

That's what bothers me. Who's minding the store? And how smart are they?

And as for AJ not knowing my political views (as I don't know if you do either WH) - CB is correct. But I'm not going into a long winded explanation - it's all here on the boards.

In short though -

Wow again Sparky...just wow

:p

As I always do....

my dear.

Those who "don't" question authority and leadership - are those not worthy to fallow.
