The Coast Guard in New Orleans says it's investigating a fire on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the Associated Press.
KHOU-TV reports that two people are dead and two more people are missing after an explosion at a platform in the Gulf.
Four people have also been airlifted to a hospital and said to be "in critical condition," according to WWLTV.
"Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts said the rig in question is a shallow water platform in the Gulf of Mexico. It is near West Cote Blanche Bay, south of New Iberia on the south-central Louisiana coast," WWLTV reported.
Associated Press reports that the oil rig explosion happened off the coast of Louisiana and that four others were flown to area hospitals.
