Hey guys at Levenworth. You get a new scooter to ride :D :D

I wonder if he's going to blow the whistle on the DICK now.

ROFL, that would be poetic justice.

Following are the individual charges and their corresponding verdicts:

* Obstruction of Justice: GUILTY
* False statements to FBI investigators (about Russert conversation): GUILTY
* False statement to FBI investigators (about Cooper conversation): NOT GUILTY
* Perjury to the Grand Jury (about Tim Russert conversation): GUILTY
* Perjury to the Grand Jury (about the Matt Cooper conversation): GUILTY

So he'll appeal, appeal the appeal, and so forth.

Until President Bush's last day in office when Scooter will receive a Presidential Pardon.

Sigh.

Well, there is a precedent for that.

Doesn't make it right.

ETA: That should read doesn't make it good. Good and right are two separate things.

Naw...On GW's last day in office he will sign a pardon for DICK CHANEY for anything he "might have done" as V.P. (Probably one for himself too)

Sucks, doesn't it?

It really makes no differnce, Rob. There is a long standing federal law that holds the President and Vice-President harmless for "...deeds done in the perfomance of their elected duties." Bank robbery, rape, murder and jaywalking, I do not believe are covered.

given that a sentence is hanging over him, one wonders if he'll roll over on Cheney or Rove. i suppose not.

it is nice to see that occasionally a top Republican, who assumes he has a right to lie-- like Cheney-- gets exposed.

hey, mayber 'scooter', like chuck colson, will convert and in a few years have his own ministry.

I suspect Libby isn't too worried about going to prison. If he should be sentenced, it will be light (like 15 months) and it won't be at the Federal Prison at Levenworth either. If any place, it will be at FCI Coleman near Orlando. They have tennis courts, golf course and no armed officers walking the walls... in fact, they don't have any walls either. It's more like a resort than a prison. :(

Well, he did what he did in a good cause. So a slap on the wrist is all he should get.

It's not like he's a Democrat or something. They should be punished just for existing, the liberal scum.

Oh my God! I'm channeling our 'friend'! ;)

LOL!
Don't worry Rob, we won't hear from our friends on the right until they get their talking points on how to spin this one.

In the meantime, heard anything about this hearing going on in the Senate today?
It's a bad day to be a [lying] Republican. :nana:

Indeed, Iran-Contra :

Wikipedia :

In 1992 U.S. President George H.W. Bush pardoned six people involved in the scandal,[36] namely Elliott Abrams, Duane R. Clarridge, Alan Fiers, Clair George, Robert C. McFarlane, and Caspar W. Weinberger.

It occurs to me, another thing has in common with his father is to select a VP so unthinkable as a President, as to make himself virtually unimpeachable. If Jeb were to run, who'd he choose as his VP? Ann Coulter perhaps?

Oh God, I was joking, but that almost seems possible after I wrote it.

I used to think Dan Quayle was stupid.

Everything's relative.

Actually, Dubya didn't select Cheney. Cheney selected himself. He was in charge of the Bush campaign's search for a running mate.

"Golly. I've searched and searched, and I can't seem to find anyone better than me."

I imagine they work out these things in advance.

Cheney and/or Rove notify Scooter that he'll be taking the fall for White House Criminal Investigation #32-B, for which the party will be forever grateful. In exchange for Scooter's cooperation, they promise "protection" for his family, a desk job in White Guy Jail, and a generous surprise in an offshore bank account to ease his transition back into society.

Conversely, should the scapegoat choose to break trust with his superiors in a vain attempt to evade his duty to his president and the nation, they promise to find him space in Angola Prison where they've pre-arranged a blind date with the occupants of Cellblock 3.

The thing about the Iran Contra mess was the only person who stood up and came clean was Oliver North. He went to jail. Score 1 for the Bush famile ethics.

That's one of the nice things about power, being able to reward yourself.

Damn! If it wasn't for this blasted sense of ethics welded to my spine, I could be rich and powerful too.

Sniff. It's not fair.

Why should they have to spin it?

If your cause is just anything you do in pursuit of that goal is good.

"Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice" and all that.

Gag!

Greetings

Maybe that's where Fitz gets to play lets make a deal...

Scooter never figured even one count was coming in wrong. He likely never returned Fitz's phone calls.

Fitz gets the final recommendation at sentencing

So it's sell out the White House and go to Camp Cupcake, hang tough and do real time with real crims...

Enjoy the journey

Ever read "Taken On Faith" by Terry Waite, the British hostage negotiator who was taken hostage before he could negotiate for the others' release? He was 'debriefed' by Oliver North the day before he was to meet with a spokesman for the hostage-takers, and strongly hints that he thinks North set him up. (If he'd been successful at negotiating the release of hostages, it would have screwed up Reagan's secret arms deal.)

Because of the game those bastards were playing, people like Terry Waite sat in holes for several years. North should still be in jail. Instead, he became a hero of the right with his own talk show and lucrative speaking tours.

And those eyebrows! Did North practice "innocent eyebrows" in front of a mirror during the hearings?

Scum.

I just read all the news stories in Reuters and CNN on the guilty verdict. I see it this way:

4 guilty verdicts for lying to investigators and the FBI.
1 Not guilty verdict for obstruction of justice.

Obstruction of Justice is a crime punishable by 5 plus years in prison. He got off on that. Lying to Investigators is almost nothing in comparison. A few months for each charge. This is not perjury and probably the reason Libby did not take the witness stand - which could have lead to perjury charges. All in all, he got away with it.

I do expect some fallout for the DICK though. :p
