I'm back, safe and sound. The serial killer in Baton Rouge and the apparent West Nile Virus epidemic didn't get me. Neither did Nawlins, though I already know I'll be making another trip as soon as I'm able to do so.
It was definitely some good R&R, lots of improvisation in the planning, or lack thereof, and some great times.
Just a couple notes.
Louisiana highways stink. They're horrible.
Preservation Hall rocks. It's crowded, stinky, ramshackle-looking, and about 200 degrees inside, but the music was worth the sweating. It was, hands-down, the best music in the French Quarter.
New Orleans will sell *anything* to tourists.
It's hot and humid in the South in early August. Really hot. Really humid. Yick.
It's great to be back.
I hope everyone had a good week. I'll have to spend a day or three catching up on the goings on.
